I am looking to replace my original lug nuts on my 71 GS. I just bought a new set on eBay that the company claims are correct. They are a alot taller and they do not seat correctly into the rim. I sent some pics to the company and waiting on a response. A eBay search located another company who states this: 1964-77 Buick ralley wheel, lug nut set, 20 pc These are the correct 3/4 hex size with the correct taper at the wheel. Made from steel, with factory chrome finish. This is 7/16-20 thread for all A-body, x-body NOT for the B-body Fullsize they use 1/2" Here are some pics of mine. Any help would be appreciated.
I do not think you will find the original lug nuts that are acorn caps on steel nuts unless you find NOS. The closet looking may be from: http://www.oldbuickparts.com/cart/pdf/catsky/sky05.pdf They are about 100 bucks for a set.
Mitch Romanowski sells reproduction lug nuts for Buicks. Might be the same ones CARS sells. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...for-all-(almost)-Buick-and-Skylark&highlight=
The repros are very nice. I have a set of originals which do not look like the capped one in your picture. They are a stainless steel capped acorn that has a slight point to it.
Jason, one of my 20 looks like this. I assumed the other style was the originals. Do yours look like this? Thanks Keith
You really cant capture it in a pic, but the acorn has a slight point to it. The repros are identical but just in one piece stainless. The repros are Duane approved!
Thanks for posting the pics. They look similar to mine except mine is not capped. Which repro's are approved? The ones from Mitch or CARS?
Year 1 repro's are 1 piece stainless and really nice, close as your gonna get , like $9 each last time I bought them about 2 years ago I think. Maybe cheaper than that can't remember.
One more new option I have seen recently. I have not seen these in person yet . They are the capped stainless and look fairly close. And priced reasonable. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390649975665?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I like the description- "Ive never seen a survivor car with capped nuts!!" . I got one right in my backyardou:
