I know this question might have been asked many times before....I have a 68 Wildcat Sedan and cant seem to find where the original paint code decal is on the car. At what spots on the car can I find this information. Thanks.
Trim tag. Its under hood affixed to the cowl with two rivets. look for the line that says "PNT" and give us the code.
once you find the tag you can decode the numbers with this, use the TOC bottom left - then arrows to see each year/category. <center> </center> Master Parts Book Body Illustrations -- Feb 72 reprint -- 1972 GM Corp this will help you understand the tag and other markings (even though it written for 71-73 Riviera , much apllies to others - just goto above to fill in blanks get codes. <center> </center> Documentation Decoding and Vehicle Matching Guide
Thanks, the car is in a storage unit right now. I'll try to get to it today and have it to you. Thanks for the assistance.
Fisher Body Tag - so that others learn Jeff. :Smarty: :TU: 06B Time Built Code ST 68-46469 68 Model Year 464 Division Series 69 Body Type TR 411 Trim Number/Seat Type BODY BK05161 BK Assembly Plant 05161 Unit Number PAINT LL L Lower Body Color L Upper Body Color, or Folding Top, Roof Color
4 = Buick which is the divsion 64 = Model which here is a Wildcat as opposed to 66 which is a Wildcat custom So we speak of Wildcats as 6000 series cars , Electras as 8000 series , GS as 4000 series, Skylarks as 3000 series, Rivs as 9000 series etc.
06B = Time Built Code: Sixth Month (June) Week B (Second Week [A,B,C,D]) I do have one question though. What does BK mean for assembly plant? Does it mean that the body was built in Baltimore and the final assembly was in Kansas City? I found a great website to help with a lot of info. This is the link that I used to decipher the body plat codes. http://www.tpocr.com/buickbp8.html
BK = the Kansas City, Kansas plant If it had been built in the Batimore plant the abbreviation would have read BA.
