Which ACC carpet to order?

    Hi folks

Want to renew the carpet on my 70 GS455 and forum search revealed that ACC brand with mass backing is the way to go.

Now, Rockauto lists different part numbers for a GS and for a Skylark (2-door with automatic trans). For the GS455 model there is no "flooring" selection, so I have to go either GS (ACC 2115232) or Skylark (ACC 2094232).
Is there really a difference or is it just two numbers leading to the same product?

    Thanks
    Carsten

I would just order the Skylark with auto transmission. Just makes sure it’s the two door. It’s better to get auto transmission column shift even if you have a console. You just cut out what you need. It fits nicer.

Just make sure you order an automatic carpet for a Buick regardless of whether it's a stick or automatic.

Do not buy a 4-speed carpet, or you will get one with a Chevelle 4-speed and the hump is huge. It will never work for a Buick without a console, and is barely covered by the console cars.

    Duane,
You are correct about the hump being huge, but I think they recently revised some of their molds. I ordered a black carpet for my 70 4-speed,for a 4-speed application, and the hump area is very subtle,as it should be. The part number was different than the Chevelle,so maybe they actually make a specific carpet for the Buicks now.
The other reason that you might find two different part numbers for the same car is one carpet has the backing, and one does not. There should be some notations about each one. One might also be a different style pile, like cut instead of loop.

That's good news. I had to return mine last summer and they sent me another, even after I had already trimmed it. I went round and round with first OPGI and then ACC about how their 4-speed carpets have never fit our 4-speeds. They at first stuck by their story that it's an A body and the same as a Chevelle but after I explained the issue and sent pics of my hump compared to the 2 variations of chevelle they finally agreed there was a problem. Maybe they resolved it based on that experience

I think i removed my Backing. Because I installed the Dynamat. Think that’s what people were telling me to do. Dynomat the Bomb. Illuminate the Road noise. Just like the weeping willows I planted in my yard. 80’ feet high now. NO road noise. lol

Yes,if anyone is plastering their floors with dynamat,or something similar, getbthe carpet without the padding. Otherwise it will never fit quite right.

ACC. No other way to go. Best carpet. But that square rubber mat on Carpet under brake pedal. Fricken thread coming out. Hmmm.
