My friend literally has a pile of old school holley carbs. What carbs would be the ones to look for? I'd like something that can have electric choke and will provide a decent idle. The car will be mostly street driven.

I wanted to go the quadrajet route but it seems no one wants to follow through with a sale so I figure its either a cheap holley or 79 Buick 350 quadrajet that still needs to be verified.

So Ken at Everyday Performance, and Mark at Quadrajetpower.com wouldn't follow through with a sale?

I don't have 600 for a built to spec quadrajet. I'm talking about my parts wanted thread. If this motor was for a restored GS and not a 600 dollar car it wouldn't be that big of an issue. Besides, I'm willing to buy the books and learn for my own education.

For a quadrajet, you need a 75-76 Buick 455 carb and convert to electric choke. It is rated at 800 cfm.

For a Holley type, i run the 950 cfm, but no choke. You will have to modify the jets and idle components on an older Holley to set it up right.

I didn't pay 600.00 for mine. More like 1/2 that. If you want an electric choke, you will be limited to the vacuum secondary Holleys. The best all around Holley is the 850 double pumper, but no electric choke as far as I know.

That's what I was quoted from a vendor Larry. I did come across a 75-76 carb on eBay but by the time I got home to buy it the auction had ended.

I'll shoot him a pm later and see what he can do. By the sounds of it I missed out on one that may have been a good match.

I would sell you 2 for $600. Well, almost 2. Just for the record, it wasn't me that quoted $600.

Demon 850, no choke. But never has a hard time starting and idling. Pricey but when it comes to carbs, I would never buy used. Especially Holley carbs.

New is always b eat in my opinion.

Found a quadrajet. Gonna try it out after it gets modded and see how I like it.

hi guys: I live a 6500ft and always had the idea that at higher altitude youshould run a smaller cfm to increase velocity fom lack of air pressure. I run a750DP with 4 corner idle system. milled choke horn polished inside. great throttle response pulls really hard on top end.TA413 cam and all the other Buick goodies. would I benefit from a larger cfm carb? thanksKen
