I replaced the full wheelcovers because I was often loosing them in curves and one almost hit somebody the last time I lost it!
If I keep the small ones I will have to paint the rims because they look bad now (but they are not much worse than the rest of the car!).

I want to edit the poll, I made an error in it but I don't know how to... Maybe Adam knows how?

I'd say the full size caps if you're going to keep the white walls. I only like the "poverty caps" when going for the stealth look. Black walls or raised white letter tires. The dog dish look is supposed to be: I didn't pay for anything on this car but the biggest baddest engine.

I'd stick with the full caps, you can bend the little teeth that hold the cap on to help them hang on.

#2 but I suggest trim rings....I think that would be nice.

    trim rings and red wheels

Phil, As Pat said, go with trim rings if you are going to use the poverty caps. Maybe paint the wheels red for an old timey look. Kevin

Trim rings? Are there any that would fit these rims?

I don't see why not. You should be able to find the thin cheap ones that ding really easily, but the trick is finding the thick chrome ones

    trim rings

If you go to the bother of putting trim rings on with the dogdish caps you might as well just run the full wheelcovers - at least they would be correct whereas the trim rings wouldn't be

I have the dog dish caps on my 69 and they look awesome! You can get some real neat trim rings from wheelvintiques. I went with the hot rod trim rings, they look way cool!

Paint the rims the same color as the body, then go with #2 on the hubcaps, and add beauty rings... :TU:

DEFINITELY #2, paint the wheels body color and no trim rings, they look gaudy. Dog dishes are supposed to be plain, if you want jazz then go with the full covers. Just my .02!

I voted for the full covers. It is a tough choice, though. The dog-dish caps look a little more sporty, but not with white walls.

I like the suggestion of using trim rings with them.

I know what a pain it is to have them fall off!
My'66 Riviera came with wheel covers that would not stay on the car!
I don't know how they managed to stay with the car for the 15 years prior to me buying it!
I don't know if it had something to do with using radial tires or what, but I sure got sick of retreiving them from the side of the road before I switched to the rally wheels.

I thought the same, it looks like the wheels flex in curves. They are the same as the 67-70 wheels and in this period, radials were available so I suppose they were adequate for radials.
I had H-78-15 tires on my 68 Wildcat and I was also loosing the wire hubcaps frequently, but those were much heavier.
Maybe it's just the wheels that got weaker... Or I just drive too fast!

I "tested" the poverty caps in curves at speeds where the full wheelcovers wouldn't hold in place and I haven't lost one so the problem seems fixed!

I think I'll just paint the wheels for now and I'll see how it looks.

My first choice would have been 1965 chrome wheels but they are hard to get at a decent price!

Less whitewalls? I removed them on photoshop...

My opinion: Keep the whitewalls. Just my preference.

I prefer whitewalls too, I also like the looks of the full wheelcovers but I'm tired of searching for them in ditches (and to see people around  while I'm :af: ). The wheelcovers held in place very well until I drove the car... Even if they were already quite hard to install and remove, I tried bending their "teeth" with no success, they were even harder to install after but they kept falling in curves.

I like the full wheel covers! I have the same problem, even on my trailer! I had to beat them onto my trailer, but when I turned it sharply in the drive they popped right off. My white convertible I have only driven the thing around the block a couple times, but the wheel cover fell off it too. I wonder if you painted the rims the covers would have a bit more "gription" to the new paint?
Looks wicked cool either way though!

I kinda like the dog dish with the white walls more than the dog dish w/o. Just my opinion. Although I'd say ralleyes would look the best. Anyhow, white walls are cool. :bglasses:
