I have one in progress. Pick up the 455 next week. It's a 65 Special. Wheels should be here next week and the UMI a arms and Viking coil overs should be on this weekend.

Big Block BUICK 4 door is a great project.

I was almost ready to start mine which was "Project 4 on the floor & the doors" when a young kid talked me into selling the car to him. All original 1970 Skylark-one owner- granny 4 door. One year later saw it in the junk yard; little bastard:af:

    GOFORIT!!!

    "LeCenturion"!

A '71 LeSabre Custom with various Centurion and Electra bits transplanted, including a '75 TSP 462 with TA Stage 1 SE heads and FAST fuel injection.

I've had a 76 LeSabre 4 door with 455 since the mid 90s. I still have it. It was well into the 13s(1452 is my GSCA number). That was with a switch pitch trans but I kept frying the converters over and over quite badly so I finally went back to a 13" fixed pitch converter and settle with 14s and a very reliable car. The converters were always so trashed that nothing could be reused and they also messed up the trans every time. It wasn't worth it. Switch pitch + 455 + 5100lb car + 2.93 gear + tall tires = fried converter.

I'm thinking of repurposing that car to tow my hotrod Buicks to the track so that it will still have a presence there, and purpose.

Nice. What all have you done to the engine?

The 4 door engine is the 76 block with 73 heads milled, speed pro hyper pistons near zero deck, TA212 cam, performer intake, 76 Qjet and long tube headers. Very similar to your build it would seem. Hooks up fine with the 2.93 posi but will melt those tall tires easily if I force it to. Fun as you put it!

ah ok cool. Thanks for the info. I haven't taken my car to the track, so I've always been interested in what I should expect as a ball park figure for 1/4 mile times with the 2.65 rear that I have. Hopefully I can give it a go next season.
