This is beautiful, but I figure my car has to be worth at least 1/2 this much, especially since I don't have an early 90s small block Chevy in mine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Riviera/392095235045?hash=item5b4ab27be5:g:7BcAAOSwUv5bXTbe&vxp=mtr
Seeing that this type of Custom builds are not my taste I always wonder "why" and how much money do some guys have to waste? I've always jokingly, but usually true, expect to get back fifty cents on each dollar you have in a car and your labor is free. Through wheeling and dealing I usually break even and even though I know it's cheaper and faster to buy one done, I still fall into the buying a project car and redoing it. Jmo.
I dont dislike it completely. The power plant is an eye roller, but overall it's not hideous in my opinion. Now that price? Uhhhhh......well........riiiiight..... But hey, never know, it may tickle some wealthy guys fancy.
Hahaha....I figured this one would be a good, entertaining discussion. It looks like it was well done in the late 90s to me. It's not my taste, but back then I would've found it to be pretty cool (except I've never been a fan of off brand engines in things, unless it's an actual street rod with a Hemi, Caddy, Nailhead, etc. swapped in). I'd be interested to see his body line sharpening, and I actually think the top chop doesn't look too bad. I think Bill Mitchell would agree, as all you have to do is see a picture of his own personal Silver Arrow. Now the price these guys want? THAT'S funny.
I don't think there is A/C. At least that I can spot. A car, of this style and this expensive should have it.
I in no way disagree with you, I'd never chop a Riviera. I just like pointing out to guys that think a Riviera is perfect the way it is and shouldn't be messed with (myself somewhat included) that the guy that was in charge of how it looked in the first place would've preferred the roof to be "chopped" from the factory, but the bean counters prevented him from having it that way. Same with the hidden headlights. They were supposed to be there from the beginning, so putting a '65 grille or complete front end on a 63-64 has never bothered me, and I obviously think it's the way to go haha.
The Silver Arrow having a longer nose allows for the chopped roof to work better. It’s not like the silver arrow is just a regular Riviera with the roof chopped, it’s entire body from nose to tail end has been reworked. Having seen the Silver Arrow numerous times, if I had a choice between it’s styling and the production styling, I would take the production look every day of the week.
Not to every ones taste but I can appreciate the build. For that kind of money I would at least pull the TPI & install a LS..
I like the chop- I think proportionally it works here- a VERY tough car to improve a styling aspect of. Paint outside & underhood looks excellent. Whole thing isn't knocking me over, but it's nice. Where I start to raise an eyebrow is the price vs. some of the fitment issues the pics show. $125K and no gas pedal??
Yes, I agree but, Buick did manage to when they came out with the '65's. That was the epitome of this body style in my eyes.
