Hey Guys, I have just spent a fortune getting my Die-cast Wildcat Taillight panel re-chromes. The shop suggested I use epoxy primer on the panel when I painted the valleys black. I got a quality primer, painstakingly masked the chrome painted the primer on, the when it was dry, put the satin black top coat on. Came time to remove the masking tape and the primer lifted from the chrome!!! So annoying!!! question 1: What do I do to make the paint stick? Question 2, after I gave up on the paint, I decided to just refit the panel.... unfortunately although this panel came from this car, it no longer wants to fit, being too long to fit between the taillights!!! This is, I believe, caused by the thickness of the chrome plating, not allowing the ends of the panel to fit in the gaps on the taillights...if you own a Wildcat you will know what I mean! Is there a safe way to remove the excess chrome, without causing the beautiful $700 chrome job to lift from the rest of the panel?? HELP!!! Cheers from Sunny Australia!!
Thanks 66 Wildcat...unfortunately on the 64 the centre panel overlaps the taillights at the left and right edges. If I could figure out how to put a photo on i would ! Thanks anyway!
