Will 1970 GTO manual trans parts fit in a '65 Skylark?

Found a guy parting out a '70 GTO 4-speed and ALL the manual parts are there from the shifter on down. What will it take to make the parts work in my '65 Skylark?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Aside from the trans itself, I don't think much will interchange. And Im pretty sure Buick used a Saginaw trans from the factory behind the nailhead, not a Muncie. My best advice, if its a good deal, buy it all. Don't leave anything behind. Get every screw, clip nut and bracket for it . Then sell it all as a complete 70 GTO 4 speed conversion/ package deal on Ebay. You'll get big bucks for that stuff. Even the shifter alone is worth money provided its the factory bayonet style handle. There are lots of guys looking for complete conversions for their GTOs. Then use funds to find the right parts for your 65:TU:

Will stuff from ANY '64-'67 A-body work? Or are there other setups that will work with minimum massaging?

    Thanks for looking,

    Rick

If you're going for original, no, I believe the `65 Skylark would have had a BW T-10 or a Saginaw, but the Muncie from the GTO will bolt right in and the shifter, crossmember, driveshaft, etc. will work just fine. If it's a conversion from an automatic then you'll need a BOP bellhousing, which, BTW, is the same as a `70 GTO so you can use it. The linkage probably won't work, at least not all of it from the `70, but if you're resourceful you should be able to work it out. The pedals won't be the same for a `70 GTO but the pedals are the same for a `65 GTO as they are for the `65 Skylark so if you have a hard time finding a set from a Skylark then just buy them for a `65 GTO, they're everywhere.
