Ok guys, thanks for the input. I have no experience with cams..... I have the cam at the builder and have had a bunch of folks say this combination has worked... some say retard the cam 4 degrees because it says it has a 4 degree advance but folks measured and say it does not. I have seen the term also mentioned to "degree the cam to make sure". What does this mean and bottom line, what does my engine builder (and he probably knows) need to do or look for? What are we trying to accomplish by "degreeing the cam"? Are we looking for absolute "0" or something.... Thanks and sorry to be a bother.
Degreeing the cam means to match it to cam card as in location of the lobe opening and closing points. And as mentioned some say built in advance. So your checking to see if cam is ground to the correct centerline .You can also change dynamic compression by advance or retard the cam. Which can lower or raise rpm range some . There are other reasons to check this.
Ordered these. I have stock bore 350 rings in a box ready to go, they're the same thickness as these pistons take. They should fit no problem, right?
As long as the piston grooves are the same depth they should. You can always call Summit or TA and ask. Or do a single ring set part number search and see if they turn out the same or ask Summit to cross reference for you.
