Will they hook?

The last motor i had was about 400 hp with stock converter and 3.23 gears with Nitto555r drag radials and they didnt hook at all at the track. The new motor will be close to 500 hp at the crank and switched to 3000 stall converter and 3.73 gears. Will the Mickey Thompson drag radials hook, 275/60/15, or will slicks be needed?

The MT Drag Radials will hook. There are cars in the 9's with them. Part of it is suspension and weight transfer.

I have a similar setup. I have the 325/50's M/T drag radials. Also a 3.73 rearend and automatic. I can light the drag radials up at will at any speed under 40 mph. At the track I just use slicks as you're always having to heat the M/T's up if you wait more than 30 minutes between runs. And that gets to be expensive with those tires vs a pair of used slicks and rims I got for $125 that have lasted me 2 years so far and I still have plenty of tread left on them as I only go out 2-3 times a years to the track.
