I havent been able to locate the correct window felts/fuzzies for my 68 Skylark, it has the window trim so the beaded edge style wont work on it, has anyone found a supplier or something that will work for this application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

They were going to be repro'd 2-3 years ago, but that fell thru, and I recall there were problems with the ones that did get made, for other years.

I sent my wife's very good original windowfelts for a 1969 Skylark Custom with the trim out to have them reproduced several years ago. The ones I got back were pretty good, especially considering at the time there was NOTHING available for cars with the exterior trim. The hardest part is finding or reusing the original staples to put them on. There were what I would consider to be minor problems with the thickness of the steel core used (irrelevant when installed) and the darts (metal tabs) which attach the windowfelt to the exterior trim were not quite long enough although they were still useable.

I thought we had offered these through Year One, but maybe the part numbers never got built. Its been years and I've slept since then. At one time I was gathering samples to have all the 1964-1972 cars windowfelts built, including the wagons, but time consuming R&D plus slow sales are always a killer when dealing with any vendor.

The 1969 ones I had made could easily be used on a 1968 if you trimmed down the door portions due to the vent window glass.

Ive been fooling around with these today and I think I have a solution, although its not technically correct. I pulled the beaded edge off and then shaved the rubber lip off with a razor knife, then I took a nylon hammer and flattened the molding out, cut to fit, and installed the felts just below the rounded edge of the window trim and it fits well. It may not be show car correct but it works good, and it doesnt show.

    68' Skylark window felts/fuzzies

Try www.restorationspecialties.com for the felts/fuzzies. They were able to reproduce some for my 4 door 1970 Skylark hardtop. Just send them your originals and in two weeks they will send you new ones. They fit well and were about 100 bucks for the set. They may even have your set available. :TU:

    Hello,
These felts do now exist and they are on my car with the correct staples and all. I go a name from a small parts company in the west. He told me who to call. I sent him a complete set off the left side of my cat an I just had to pay shipping the felts/fuzzies were free for the pattern. I can't find the the # rigth now but I will look at home to see. The box said re-pops inc. This is the address that I shipped it to.
