I have been collecting parts for my winter project. TA alum. heads, small valve. level 1 porting TA 212 hyd. roller cam TA 1.65 roller rockers TA SP3 intake Johnson roller lifters
Get some tips from Mark Demko and Mart about the roller cam setup. I know some thing was an issue I think cam bumper? Should be a screamer
The V6 cam plate TA VRL 100 the way I went. TA had to machine the cam. My machinist also strongly agreed.
Nice stuff! Just keep in mind that the Cam will need to be degreed in a certain way if you want the most out of it due to the high ratio rockers, that is if the Cam lobes where not designed in perticular for the 1.65 rockers. If that's the case then let me know and I will relay what needs to be done.
Im jealous! Sounds like a sweet winter project On the roller cam end play, With the block bare, bolt the timing cover WITH the gasket to the block using all the bolts required a day or more BEFORE installing the cam, the reason is to compress the gasket as much as its going to compress in service so your cam end play doesnt end up changing on you.
I believe the cam lobes were designed for the rockers but I will double check, thanks and I will. I need to get a degree wheel, I will probable only use it once or twice so I don't want to spend big bucks. Any suggestions? I also see something about a special crank bolt or socket? Thanks everyone! Keith
I bought my Comp Cams degree wheel from Summit years ago. The only down side to mine is the degree wheel is kinda small, Try and buy one with as large a degree wheel you can afford. Read the directions, try it out, then read again, try it again It may take a few times (it did for me) to understand it and get a repeatable reading, just be patient and take your time
Yep, the 4 long bolts that go thru water pump, timing cover, and into block are the gasket compressors.
Demko's temperature gauge must have came from Alaska -50* below LOL We get that cold around here you might as well kiss it goodbye! Frozen3 the sequel.
