Well, overwhelming majority in my other thread, was build up short block

Looking at these -22cc Wiseco ... STD bore

I have no ridges in my cylinders, they look great ... but, I can't find a piston spec ... piston clearance, etc

Anyone use these before? ... Will they fit in a STD bore, or piston diameter going to be wrong?

Any info on what Wiseco spec's their allowable clearance at?

I would call Wiseco and get the correct information directly from the source. I also would have your current bore diameters ready when calling.

I advise having the block bores measured by a machine shop before you do anything...

Yeah, I may try to find a rep to call ... not trying to build a bazillion HP

I think find a piston, that'll fit ... bottle hone cylinder ... and, get my compression up (high enough for a mild cam)

That'd fit my plans ok ... waiting for a catch though, like pistons won't actually work in STD bore ... or, piston slap will be rediculous

Regardless of who you call, the pistons and bores need to be measured to determine anything.
You could slip one down a bore and use a flat feeler gauge and report back your findings.
The comments about having a shop measure things for you is a wise choice that comes with the idea of putting the parts into a pro's hands, which is valuable in so many other ways.
Often times a STD forged piston is made a smidge bigger than a stock STD size.
There are variations in factory blocks with sized pistons selected fit as well as the intention of the new forged piston either dealing with a thou or two wear and some room for a light hone.
All that being said, I've never used that particular STD piston in a Buick block.

As I already stated in post #4, ...... "Have your current bore diameters ready when calling".

If anyone's bore diameter is felt to be worth checking for a drop in piston, (in this case for a standard bore piston), ...... I Always measure cylinder bores with a dial-bore-gauge, or you can have it measured by an operator that is familiar with the feel of the gauge.

I feel any other way of measurement is an inaccurate waste of time!

So when someone potentially completely unfamiliar with assembly and measurement doesn't heed the advice of machinists, engine builders and hobbyists alike and carelessly or ignorantly assembles an engine risking all those expensive parts just to save a few dollars having a bore and piston measured....you can see where this is going :D .

After he slipped a piston in, tried a feeler gauge and determined that he still wasn't sure, reported his thoughts...the forum would simply say, "better measure it to be sure or you'll be posting about it's spectacular failure, looking for another engine, etc......................................"
    :) :) :)

Still taking a risk unless the same mic that measures the piston zeroes the dial bore gauge or even more expensive equipment that that is used by 'competent' persons.

Guys hold on ... just trying to get info ... yes, I'm a very competitent engineer

I question the STD Wiseco's are listed 4.313 bore ... I know JE doesn't catalog a 4.313" ring, no one does ... 4.32" lots of options

.0075" isn't a whole lot, so I wonder if the piston/ring is actually made for a 4.32 bore? ... Which would be great, I could get shop to do that with torque plate/hone, and be real happy

If it's actually truly 4.313" ... then, better stick with the dingle ball home, and just remove glaze

I've tried to contact Scott Brown for months (calls emails) ... I'd like a 4.32" 2.00CD piston in $700 range, but no response

I'd like not to get in to 4.35" bore ... if I could help it

I'll try calling Jim Weiss ... not interested in 470ci, but I would do an AutoTec 4.32" 2.00SD piston

Sad though, hot rod community has gone from re-ring a set of '70 455 pistons to get compression (which Wiseco STD's appear better) ... To, full $1200 custom JE's are only imaginable idea

All I'm looking for is a 400hp 5000rpm street motor ... maybe I could hit 450hp with a set of heads

Jim should be able to help you. You will easily make 400 HP, with a set of aluminum heads, an easy 500.

Wiseco does list the ring set for their std bore 4.313 piston. They list as part number S100S8-4310-5. Those are file fit .005 oversized rings. Right out of the box they should be sized for a 4.315 bore, and you would file fit to your bore size i.e. 4.313. Those rings are 1/16-1/16-3/16 ring width.
A couple months back I called Wiseco to gather information and found their new BBB Reverse Dome -22cc pistons were back ordered with no due date. I proceeded to order a set of Diamond Pistons from Jim Weise and am very pleased.

LOL ... just noticed, I've got replies from The Doctor & The Wizard ... that's awesome

So, did you end up with Diamond 4.32" or 4.35" piston?

Hey, how could you go wrong?:)

:) I opted for the Diamond -25cc 4.350 2.00 compression height with 1.00" pins as I already have a new set of TA 6.6" Eagle Forged Rods with 1" pin bores. The cylinder walls in this block needed 4.350 to clean up
