Okay, folks. I'm finally working on the pieces for the LeSabre, Wildcat & Electra in woodgrain. Not sure what the years they cover, but it is the same batch that use my Climate Control piece. I will be producing a limited run of the three-piece kit in woodgrain only. Price TBD, but won't be outrageous. Probably in the same range as my A-Body pieces. Will know more on that soon. Anyway, still a few weeks out, but figured I'd let everyone in on the secret ahead of time. I'll post pictures and additional details soon - art is just now getting wrapped up. As soon as I finish up the art and approve the filmwork, I'll start taking pre-orders. If you have any questions in the meantime, send me a note. Thanks! GS
Greg, how about the woodgrain on the steering wheel for the 71 Rivs? Or any luck yet in sourcing the "turned" metal stuff for the rest of the dash????ray:
can't wait, post pictures asap. Thanks also will you only be doing the original wood design or will there be a variety of woods? thanks again
Question... Is the "Fasten Seat Belts" script printed in white or silver like the Climate Control script? Anybody have a good pic I can reference? Mine are all of junkyard cars that have faded, crappy woodgrain. Same as my sample piece. Let me know, thanks! GS
Electras, LeSabres, Wildcats - late 60s/early 70s. The three pieces on the bezel - A/C piece, the wiper/radio volume piece and the selector piece. Not entirely sure of the exact years...
Greg, here's what I did for the '66-'67 Electra. Theres a piece to each side of the column and one for the glove box. No script, but a silver pinstripe at the top & bottom of each piece. I don't think I have a spare dash for you to borrow, sorry. This dash has AC, so the left and center pieces are cut to accomodate the dash vents. The glove box piece is common for AC & non. Devon
The red oak veneer's color was somewhat close to the original synthetic stuff on my door panels which is still in excellent shape, so I used the stain to make it more closely match. Added the stripes, then polyurethane. We'd have to find a way to allow Greg to see the door panel woodgrain so he could match the dash inserts. The original dash veneer fades terribly. Devon
I can take a pic of the door wood grain at lunch today and post. My dash inserts are so faded from sun damage you almost can't see the grain at all!
If the material is all flat, I could probably do something. Maybe the next project.... On the current one, though - I still need to know if "Fasten Seat Belts" is white or silver like "Climate Control." This is the only thing holding up this project. Let me know, thanks! GS
Question!!! I still need to know if "Fasten Seat Belts" is white or silver like "Climate Control." This is the only thing holding up this project. Anybody??? Got a pic? Any info appreciated! GS
I was unable to take pics of the woodgrain on my doors. I lent my camera to a friend who promptly lost it. Waiting on a replacement from him now.
Shawn, I wouldn't worry about taking pics. Just the variation in lighting will make it impossible to match the woodgrain from a photo. If Greg chooses to try it he'll need a sample. Honestly I don't know if there's much of a market for the '66-'67 kits, and it's time consuming but pretty straightforward to do it oneself since there's no lettering or curvature to worry about. Re: Question!!! mine are faded badly but here are the best photos i could get 1970 wildcat when you get these repoped i will need a set i hope this helps scott
