I'm trying to extend a shaker hood scoop from a 1977 TA for use on my 1973 GS. I need to make it 3" longer towards the rear. My plan was to use screen to form it and then cover it with fiberglass mat, then apply Duraglass filler over that to smooth it out. One of the mechanics at work told me that if it is smc, I need to use a specific product because regular fiberglass resin won't adhere well to the smooth smc, even after roughing it up. I went on TP tools website to see what products they had for smc repair. They only had body fillers for smc, no resin that could be used with smc. I think that if I just cover the screen with the body filler without mat, it would have no strength. I'm pretty sure that the scoop is smc, not abs because when I cut it with an air hacksaw, it smells like fiberglass, but it didn't make me itchy like fiberglass. Any suggestions? Jeff
