Ok, quick survey of people and the work that has to be done (on their cars) before Stanton. Myself, I have to track down a gremlin in my vent system before I hit the road. I know of friends that have motors still out, pipe work to bend, rearends out and waiting for parts, tires being replaced, exhaust work to get done. If it was not for a deadline, would anything get done? ou:
I just took 4 vacation days next week, and I think I should try to figure out why only the left tire spins...........
Change plugs, points and wax the GTO, ou: Pacecar needs a wax job, truck needs a wax job, trailer needs a sway control set up on it.
Donny, obviously it could just be that the posi is shot, but I have also seen posi's stop working when someone changed the fluid and did not add the GM friction modifier. Also if the fluid is old the posi could quit working. I would definately try a fresh fluid change and make sure to add the friction modifier, you might be pleasantly suprised. :3gears:
I'm done. Just have to do a trailer maintanence check and I'm ready to go! I know Steve Hodges will be thrashing until the last possible moment! He has only had 12 weeks to change the exhaust on his orange Vette. He told me today he's going to start on it Tuesday......... ou: I'd love to see Brian's 58 Merc, but I like his 64 too much to see it pushed aside!
Thanks Jeff, we have it apart, it's toast. I am trying to find another one, or else I'll leave 3.70 in it
Some soap and water, waxing, final dressing, replenish fluids and I'll be set to go... ... now as for the car, I think it's ready?
brake system totally apart, need to switch non-fitting H-pipe w/ new 2-1/2" system from The Stainless Works, still need to see why fan is hitting radiator, center carb needs rebuilt, install seatbelts, check rear, change oil, install driveshaft loop, run tach wire, get redlines mounted and balanced (after they arrive) and a few other little things. What is everyone running for brake fluid? I'm wanting to change to DOT 5. What are you running for coolant? Straight water w/ something like Water Wetter added? Lon OO====OO
Damn Thought we were ready to go, but last night my son spit the tranny outta the 454 Monte  This could get interesting! Peter
Lon: Straight water with water wetter if your car runs hot. If there's no cooling issues, run straight water. Close enough to winter to begin thinking about antifreeze, but really a bummer if there's a leak on the track. Water cleans up easily, antifreeze in a very bad thing. Put in the 50-50 mix after you're done racing. Hope you make it, love to see that platinum car. Peter, convert to 4 speed. JJ's gotta have enough extra parts to do it.
list is gettin short i covered everything on your post rusty + a few additional, all i have left is the brakes[hanging up] kenny however is now behind the 8 ball.
If you're going to DOT5 silicone, then I would recommend getting a new master cylinder, and new wheel cylinders. You can purge your steel and flex lines as best as you can with brake clean or alcohol, and blow them out dry, but you will still need to pull the new fluid thru until all you see is clean purple fluid. You can not flush out your current master or cylinders as the cleaning agent will have adverse affects on the inner seals. Your stuff will certainly leak if you do that!! Replace with all new stuff!! It is almost a full day job in itself. Your plate looks pretty full right now, I don't think you want to add this to it. By the way, I have switched to DOT5 when I rebuilt my system 6 year's ago. No problem since then!!
Looks like masking tape to me? Damn Donny!!!!! Typical Corvette guy, he will only lay on Berber carpet to work on his ride
Just spent the last two days changing the rear main seal....I haven't been this sore in years. :bglasses:
