I have finally installed an original 68 wood wheel on my car. I have a horn button with the metal part in poor condition - the clear plastic 'Buick' centre that is always cracked is in better condition on this than most I have seen. Anyone have a good button or a button with a poor or missing centre they would sell? Stu
Stu, good luck with your search. Is there any way the metal body surfaces could be repaired somehow? I know pitting can be repaired, but likely tedious and $$$. Having a good plastic center puts you ahead of the game with these.
Thanks David. I did grind out and fill the pits that were causing the pimples on the button (there were many). The new silver paint is ok but it's just not the same in looks or durability as the original brushed metal finish - a lot better than nothing but still hoping........
A picture would be nice.....i see a swapper every once in a while and he has a Buick horn button for the 68 Wood wheel......i been meaning to ask a price but was never sure it was for the 68 WW. Peace WildBill
Hi Bill - it looks like this. Mine is painted - the original has a brushed metal finish. Would appreciate any assistance in finding one! Stu
Stu, your silver paint job looks real nice, but you're right, it's just not the same as the brushed original.
Yes.....thanks for the pictures......his looks very similar except the color of the center under the Buick is silver? Peace WildBill
Bill, I think it's just the lighting. Believe that backing is kind of an off white. Unless Stu had it apart and modified it?
I hope to see that vendor at a swap meet coming up.....i will see if it is correct and try and buy it. What are they worth? Peace WildBill
If it's in nice condition, it's a $100+ part. Deduct for pitting and cracks in the center plastic piece. So-so driver quality maybe $50-$75.
