Look under the for sale section. I think two of three from one seller were sold. The last one for 80K was still available last time I heard.
X hi tim, nah..... I am in the same mode.... just been missin having a b.b. gs lately... durng my "gotta get out from under these damn cars phase", I probably shouldve kept at least one 455 car laying around . somtimes one has to take a few steps back to move forward.... I was out of control !! my '71 gs convert has been a blast and has kind of relit the fire in my belly that I had early on in collecting buicks... an X is the only thing I havent had, and a half dozen times over . so , I'll take a stab if I find the right one...and dont have to remortgage the house... for 80K ? I am thinking hemi.... if the X doesnt happen, I'll survive. I know of a few a '71 stage 4 speeds... my second choice... then I swear I am done !!!!! tim, I'll try to call you sometime this week. best, john
A hemi cuda convert recently changed hands for 3 million but a know what you mean about shopping around. The 4 speeds and stage 1 cars seem to be bringing the premium prices.
x thats gotta be one heck of a cuda for 3 million ! :jd: celeb owned ? never driven? well over current market value... but I suppose all it takes is a few people to drive the market and set a false value barometer... I collect guitars and see that all the time..... tim , if you are out there this morning, what was that guy asking for the hemi cuda you were looking at last year ? that was a hard top though wasnt it ? john gsca # 385
Most of the buying public just sees auction values or public sales of some other kind like at cars shows. These are way low on the highs and certainly auctions are way high on the lows. Now private sales are a horse of a different color.
Hi John, I will try to get you called back in the near future. That Hemi car I was looking at was a 70 Challenger with 8,600 original miles, and the price was supposed to be $75K. But after I woke up and realized there was no chance of affording it I sicked another guy onto it. By then the price had risen to $125K. And I'm sure after B-J he is probably wanting $175K or so for it. Those Mopar collectors are nuts. I wouldn't give $3 mil (even if I had it)for all 30 of the Hemi E body convertibles built. The way to go now days is a clone, which even that get's too expensive in a Mopar by the time you spend $15K for just the engine. Tim
Couldn't resist chiming in here. We seem to be in a market where a certain car is worth whatever the last one sold for, plus wherever the owner thinks the market is going. This can change on a daily basis. It's said that people lose their minds collectively, and all at once; but only recover their senses slowly, and one by one. (hmmm...sounds like the mopar market) Remember the early nineties? I sure do, 'cause I sold my 70 hemicuda for around 18K and a 71 440-6 GTX for about 6.5 K (cdn) in the late 80's, having enjoyed the cars. Then the prices exploded! How much farther can these cars go up? (sound familiar? Think I said that in 90) Guess I shoulda bought that conv hemicuda for 16k in northern sask in '83, even if it did have a metalflake paint job! But if I still owned any of those cars today, they'd be gone tomorrow...Sometimes I wonder if I can afford to play at this level!
could this be him? :jd: could this be the same john jaco that lived in denver colo., and sold me some parts that i picked up when i was driving truck across country and sold my brother a 65 baby blue skylark in iowa? and is now a cheese head? i wonder? guess who!? o No:
jerry ! jerry, where the heck have you been ????? I have tried several times to get a hold of you... phone and email changes ! yea we moved back to wisc. in late '96... havent been back to colorado since, but am thinking on taking my drop top on a little jaunt cross country this summer so I will likely be out that way.... you still in KY or did you head back iowa way ? email me at; talk2chaos@yahoo.com and lets play catch up... best, john gsca #385
howdy i am still in ky., got married 2 years ago. working on a 68 custom vert. we have shaved the door handles, antenna, trunk lock, doors locks. lowered 2 inches. the car has original 62,000 miles with underdash air that still blows cold. check out my profile. i work for a small carb company called quick fuel technology, i am the new carb production manager and quality control. we sell to jeg's, proform, summit, etc. we made this month's hot rod. look for the camaro setting the salt flat record for his class. we made the dominators on it. when you get a chance call me at 270-781-7332 after 9pm central. talk to you later. jerry
There are two GSX's listed on www.hemmings.com right now. One is white and one is yellow. Both are $55K. Mark
