Looking for a set of old school style finned aluminum valve covers that fit a 455 if such a set exists.o No:
There's been a few sets pop-up lately......old edelebrocks.....they are cool :bglasses: That's what will be on the motor of my "new" car p Peace WildBill
Those are cool! and exactly what I'm looking for, got an extra set?o No: Those headers are cool too....:TU:
Check out Offenhauser. They used to claim that they have kept all the patterns for nearly every production part they have cast through the years, and can make a set for you if they don't have a set on the shelf. I have no idea what they would cost these days, but it is worth a shot. I always liked their finned valve covers better than the Edelbrock stuff myself. Good luck, Randy
Well, I just checked a source for Offenhauser valve covers (www.offyparts.com), and they do not have any listed for the 400-430-455 engines, just the nailheads (both the 215 and the 401-425). Sorry about that.
I've always liked the "old skool" look of finned and tapered valve covers myself, and I thought it would be very cool if someplace/someone made them with the "old skool" finned look, but tall enough to clear TA's roller rockers :Brow: Maybe I'll just have to get creative with my friend's TIG... :Brow::idea2::laugh:
There's 3 ways to do this with the Edelbrock valve covers - (good) double-up the thick cork gaskets or (better) AM&P sells a machined metal spacer or (best) get some TA Stage1 aluminum heads as the rail is taller than stock My car has worn this set of valve covers since 1 month old (as told to me by the original owner). He brought the car back to the dealership for trany work and saw the Edelbrock valve covers and intake on display at the parts counter. He asked what they're about and was told the intake makes the car go faster and the valve covers dress up the look. He said "have them on the car when I pick it up !!! "
wow those are cool... I'm going to try and fab up something like that, but taller for TA rollers, when I can...
