Hi Tom,just took apart my 70 GS 350,what does the spring look like?Its got to be there,as I only sold the long rod ,red in color to Adam Martin a few days ago.Bruno.
For my a/c car, the heater floor vent is held on by one screw. Once the screw is removed the floor vent will pull out. Up in there is the damper and spring. I need to move my car out of the garage so I can open the drivers door all the way. You have to be a contortionist and lay on your back on the driver's side floorboard to see up in the duct. If I survive, I will email a photo tomorrow. Thanks Bruno. Tom
Tom, Sometimes it's helpful to unbolt the seat and get a little more room to work. If it's a bench seat just move it rearward. If buckets, put rags over the studs. A little bit of room can go a long way when working under dash.
Here's a pic looking up into the duct with the floor vent removed. Very grainy photo but you can see the spring on the lower right, attached to the damper and actuator assembly. Also posted in The Big Chill. Thanks, Tom
