WTB: Illuminated Buick Compass Gr. 8.873 #981247

I'm looking for an illuminated Buick Compass in NOS or excellent condition.

Group 8.873, Part No. 981247.

Good luck with that lol, the same unit with GM on it pops up once in a while but the Buick ones are near impossible. If you find one, make sure the fluid is still near full on the inside, I have seen a few over the years that the fluid is near gone, still work fine for display but not as well for actually working. The one in my 67 is low on fluid but have a full one I switch out for major shows.

 

They’re not that hard to find mate. You’ve got two of them.

 

I actually have 3 but have been collecting 40 years. The one in the 67 came with the car, the other 2 NOS ones were purchased long ago.

 

Well if you want to part with one of them, you have a buyer. I had the GM variant years ago but sold it with another car. This time I am seeking out the Buick illuminated variant. There have been a few GM compasses on eBay lately, they are much more common as you said earlier. Anyway, on with the search!

 

I have one that I might be willing to sell. Not sure on value. What is the going price for one of these?

The GM ones which are the same except say GM where the Buick one says Buick usually bring around $25o NOS. once in a while I see someone snatch one up for under $100, they are usually available on eBay. The last Buick NOS one I saw sold for $325 on eBay. Think that's bad, try the pricing on some of the ones from the 50's

 

I concur with My3Buicks, these prices have been my recent observations as well.

 

Here are some pictures of the compass. As you can see, the package has been opened but it is unused. If you are interested, how does $100 sound?
