Hi, i have decided to give my Buick the original color back #53 Cortez Gold, is there a difference to GM Code 53 Bright Yellow Metallic ? or can i use this colorplate as sample for the paint shop ?
I would never describe Cortez Gold as bright yellow metallic. http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1971-Buick-pg01.jpg
If i try Chevy on this site #53 is named "placer gold" with same 2339 below. http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1971-Chevrolet-pg01.jpg Tomorrow i can make pic from the complete plate, i think with daylight it is better to see.
Use this site as a cross reference for the codes by manufacturer: http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?make=Buick&con=k&page=21&rows=50
If a GM paint code of the the same year has the same number...it is the same paint with a different name. I have a 1970 code 48... Buick called is Sherwood Green Chevrolet called it Forest Green Oldsmobile called it Sherwood Green Pontiac called it Pepper Green It's all the same paint formula.
Thank you, now i have my answer ( Marco is right ): http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?manuf=GM&code=53&con=m&year=1971&rows=50 i have the GMC plate
