I got this steering box and pump off of a 1978 Z28 in working condition. I'm not sure if all Camaro's were like this but it has a 2.5 turns lock to lock, which is faster than the usual 3 turns all the rest of my GM variable ratio cars were. As you can see there is a bolt that needs removing. I am asking $75. I don't know if this will bolt on to an A body, but I'm guessing most of you will.

You are right, it will not bolt up to an A-Body, it is a completely different critter. This will work on a Firebird, Nova, Apollo, etc., of the proper vintage.

it bolts right on an A-Body, we used them before the GN boxes came around...its also called a firm feel box, its fast ratio but the valving is different, it takes more effort, and it has more road feel...ive used many on skylarks....bolts right on...

Box bolts right on a 64-72. But the steering stops are a bit different. It won't turn as tight as an A-body box, like when doing U-turns.

You can change the bump stops on it.

Curious. How do you do that? Is it something relatively easy to do?

If you have not had a steering box apart I would not recommend it.

you have to send it out to have it done, and the cost isnt worth it to most people...if youre going to spend money on changing the stops, do yourself a favor and have it done on an IROC or 90s Trans AM box....if you change the stops on those..they are EFFIN wicked fast boxes...and they are all firm feel...really top notch box
