    Default 400, 430, 455 bbb parts interchange

Ok, I have a 76 Buick 455 out of a Riviera. I have read on this forum that the 75-76 heads are pretty much garbage due to the big chambers. Now, I know I can get a set of 400 or 430 heads of a 67 Lesabre or Electra from a local junkyard. Will those heads bolt up to my 455, and is it worth the swap??

    Thanks

    -Josh
I'm not restoring it. I'm driving it.

Yes and Yes. But if I were you, I'd try to get the whole 430. You got a crank and rods that would be good replacement parts if you need them. You can use the intake, its much better than the 76 (or at least it looks better) and its cheaper than aluminum. You can use the timing cover in a pinch and I think the valve covers look cooler.

the 67 exhaust manifolds are supposed to be better flowing than any other year manifold if you don't go to headers.

it's also possible that the 430 heads are 'big port'. check the casting #'s.

i agree, ask for the price for the whole engine first then see what they'd want for just the heads.

I can get any v block head for $20, plus $5 core, so for $50, I can have the 430 heads.
