    Jaymers,
Sorry for being so slow. I've been quite under thw weather for the last month. The thrust washers I was referring to are those inside of the torque converter, namely the one between the stator and impeller. The high thrust load, compared to a stock v6, was causing the thrust washer to melt into the aluminum stator. That ruins everything, and the trans has to be disassembled and defragmented at the least.
I had a good connection with a local converter shop at the time, and we changed that thrust washer over to a torrington roller bearing. We did this to a few converters, and none of those have failed.

    Grandville455,
Thanks for the buildup info. Your converter sounds too good to be true. I did test a few fixed pitch converters in my setup. They just slipped right up to the stall RPM, even on a flat road at a constant vehicle speed. I hate that feeling. And that was an 11" B&M and a 12" TCI. They both seemed like junk in the fullsize, but worked fine in my light Monza. What your getting out of that 10" model sounds really cool. That must be a good design and couldn't have been cheap.
Good reliable engine buildup there. The Rhoads lifters with that cam appear to be a good combo.

Slighty new best ET. O well, made it to the final four last night. I'm still pretty pleased I'm doing this with a internally stock 430. It's still more like a consistant 15.05 car at Quaker. I did run two high 14s last night though.

Good job, Dan. Now I don't have to change my earlier post where I said you ran 14s. You guys are killing me. I don't really see finding the time to run my car this summer, either. Very cool thread, a lot of cars running very close times.

Cool stuff, but the color choice is a bit 1989. How many CFM are we looking at with those four carbs?

Yes the teal is a little overwhelming when it is covering 99% of the car but if the driver is happy more power to him. We need someone in here translate some of the key points of his build. I would be really curious to know what he is running in the 1/4.

I updated my new time in the timeslip database.

14.25 for the Centurion this year! I need to run it in some better weather, and I'll get some 13 second runs in.

    Adam,
No traction problems at all.Must be the crappy 2:93 gears I am running in the posi. Can't wait to get some deeper gears.Guess I will find a 8.5 rear from a 350 car & build it the way I want.I am tired of being held hostage by the lack of & extreme cost of gears when available.Tom,I am not sure if I am out of the woods yet with the beaking up issue.Ran 3 passes today, broke up some on the 1st pass but not at the remaining 2 passes.I finally had a new 2.5 exhaust system with 2 chamber mufflers installed. The exhaust really woke the car up.I am having the 870 carb redone now,Looking forward to getting it back to see how it runs.

    Yes it was.
It usually one of Gateway International Raceway's larger events.
    Sunday was pretty busy.
Weather and track were great for horsepower!

Unfortunately, I was the ONLY Buick powered V8 there.
There was only 1 turbo 6 Buick.
    and this http://www.justanothercadillac.com/ Chevy powered.
