That mid 11 was with NO HEAD PORTING! Amazing.

With a set of ported heads and an alum single plane intake on one of your shortblocks would be killer. 10's easily....

What is the feasibility of T/A or Edelbrock making a 350 manifold like Edelbrock's Air Gap Dual-Plane Intake? I have one on my boat's Chevy motor and it is SWEET! I would be willing to slap down a deposit if I could have an intake like that plus heads.

I just realized that I haven't posted on this thread even though I saw it a few days after it was posted by Mike and I have posted about it over at the BPG site. Here's my 2 cents, thanks to Mike and all the staff at TA Performance for the continued commitment to these engines.I've been a loyal sbc nut for over 20 years but realized that, like others, that record has been playing for way too long.It took a lot of time and research on my part to dive into the Buick world and I will admit that the 455 was the catalyst for my change of brands.I'll still use a 455 in my '79 Limited and I will keep a couple of Chevy trucks(1 BBC and 1 SBC )but I'm convinced that the 350 Buick will be the perfect engine for a naturally aspirated light weight car(street or strip). This announcement is just icing on the cake,I can envision spanking some ChevyII(I own a '66) with a '61-'62 Skylark powered by a sbb 350 and the grin on my face while doing it.As a rule I don't like to fork money up front for services or goods but I'll be willing to give TA my credit card number for the purchase of an intake and a set of the heads for a charge at shipment of said parts,I think that will show good faith and if others do the same that would be a good gauge for initial production figures. If any of you agree with that I'll be willing to make the call and see how TA feels about it.As posted by Bill, this board is the perfect place to form some type of consensus about this sort of thing(thanks Jim W.).Speak up!!

When does the TA 350 replacement block come out....

Seriously, how much HP can the 350 block take, and run reliably with a street / strip setup?

well, the Buick v6 has been built to over 1000hp. and a 350 is a tall deck version of the 231v6 with two extra cylinders and an extra main bearing. so i'm thinking a Buick 350 will take anything you want to throw at it up until top end drag strip only use.

Oh yeah! This is great news! I always had a feeling that aluminum heads would sometime become a project, as the 350 crowd for Buick lovers have been waiting for them for quite some time. I'll definetly want a pair at sometime or another, as I am going to soon be looking for another project car, one that is hopefully much lighter in weight than the current car my 350 SBB sits in now. The body is junk on my current car and I am hoping to just scrap it out and find maybe a 75-76 Skylark or a Skyhawk even, or maybe an '62 Skylark, or just some lightweight vehicle, maybe even a Nova, to stuff the 350 in to, and hopefully will have a rebuilt, streetable, and healthy 1970 Buick 350 that will be able to obtain a good 350-400 plus Horsepower and torque, and be able to keep me satisfied on both the street and track. That is what I want, to be exact! And aluminum heads and intake will definetly be of some use to me when the time comes!!!

This is ridiculous. What is the issue TA? You have said this stuff will be based off of the BBB blueprints, so it should not be an impossible task to develop these parts. It should more than obvious that these parts WILL sell. A single-plane intake is nice, but we need an intake based on the Edelbrock Air-Gap manifold for us street guys. While we're at it why don't we go ahead get a SBB 3X2 Air Gap manifold? It's about time we started feeding these motors gobbs and gobbs of cold air.

You have said this stuff will be based off of the BBB blueprints, so it should not be an impossible task to develop these parts.

they may be "based off of" BBB parts but the SBB has a much narrower bore-to-bore spacing ( 4.750" vs 4.240" ) and a shorter deck height. in real world terms, this means that every single dimension of every part must be changed. and then you have the issue of the different bolt patterns and oil / water passage arrangements.

the re-development time spent on every one these pieces, to get it 'right', will be non-trivial. in realistic terms, while TA has a 'basic' template they're starting from these are all going to be completely new pieces invented from scratch.

you should be thankful TA isn't trying to hang a bunch of guys with pre-order deposits before they get started on this. Mike is doing this on his own dime. until you put up your own money you really need to chill TF out.

Exactly what Bob said. TA has already said, the 455 block gets done first, then the SP 350 intake. They haven't even given an availability date for the 455 block, how can you expect a release date for the intake? Ranting on TA about it isn't going to get it done any faster, so cool your jets. Everyone's so damn impatient these days...
