Default SB Chevy Starter on Buick 300

I recently spoke to a well known Buick engine expert who told me that a SBC mini starter will work just fine on my manual trans 300. There's one hung on a recently rebuilt 300 in a fellow's Apollo GT. I have to buy a mini starter pretty quickly and it must be able to be clocked with the solenoid pointing straight down.

    Thoughts? Opinions?

An LT-4 chevy starter bolts right on to a GN 3.8 engine, if the bolt pattern and flywheel teeth are the same for a SBB I don't see why it wouldn't work. Only thing we had to change were the starter bolts.

if you need the solenoid pointing down, your going to have to get a tilton or powermaster with an indexable(is that a word?)front housing.yes a sbc NOT 350 starter will bolt up.the lt4 starter has the solenoid on top, just like the stock one.

no,what i mean is the 350 chebby uses a staggered/offset bolt pattern with 2 long bolts.the buick has the straight accross bolt pattern with 1 short & 1 long bolt.the 265-283-327 chebby is the same as a buick starter.

You might be thinking about the SBC 400, not the 350, having the offset bolts.

I have one of these on order. It may be a POS but I'll take the chance.
