WOW, stage 1 compared to stock Riviera
IMAG0304.jpg
I can't wait to get it in!
**UPDATE**
Just got back from our shake down run and the car is just plain nasty now. Drag radials are now worthlessneed to look for some wrinkle wall street tires. Might be an issue on the top end it's too early to report. 60mph cruise is same rpm as it was with the stock 13 inch.
Thanks!

Jim,
Do you rebuild stock converters? I have a vibration I have been putting off trouble shooting. I need to start with the clutch fan and work back from there. If it ends up being my converter (which is stock) would you consider rebuilding it with a slightly higher than stock stall? If so, what would the cost be? How long would it take? I can give engine and drivetrain specs as needed as best I can. I'm not sure what the stock stall was for my car with the original 400ci setup from the factory with the TH400, but that's the coverter I still use with 3.08 gears and a shift improver kit. I may upgrade to 3.55 and a posi this year, if that would make a difference.
Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
Sure, we could rebuild your converter, but I guess my question would be why?... it would be a lot simpler just to buy the STG 1 12" I sell, that stalls about 16-1800... cost on that one is $289. It is a perfect "stock replacement" converter for a GS BB car. It's "just a little more" than the stocker, which stalled at about 13-1400.. still plenty tight for street driving.
Those we typically have in stock. I would have to check my guys inventory tho..

Jim, that sounds like a good choice to add to the TH350 we discussed?

Which case does the Stage 1, 9.5" converter use? Vega, Northstar or other? I'm thinking of trying one.

Rob,
It's a 245MM GM Shell, that was used in a big variety of GM cars in the 80's and 90's. That smaller diameter one seems to be the best for the A bodies, and with HD aftermarket parts, good up to 900 HP. We offer a STG 1 (up to 550 HP) STG 2 (Up to 650 HP) and STG 3 (Race converter for T brake up to 900 HP)
We also build with both the 258MM and 265MM GM cases, but those converters are typically only needed for super HI HP combos. They are also considerably more expensive, since they all have to have the forged cover (used in the STG 3 9.5) because it's required to be able to build it to the right height to fit the earlier transmissions.
I have sold a lot of those 9.5" converters now, and to date, have had no failures that I am aware of.

Jim I'm presently working on some heads for a 489 chevy for freind. Going into a tubed chasis vega w/the motor. Can you calculate the conv. needed after the engine dyno is done along with the rear ratio. Thanks.
Ray
Sure, with a sheet it's no problem.
Let me know when it gets off the dyno, and we can get together on one.

Quick question, im currently running a turbo 400 but was thinking about going with a 700r4. I havent really seen anyone use the 700 on a street/strip application in th i s forum. Is the 700 not recommended? Do you have converters for the 700? Just dont know what to do. Thanks in advance.
