Default Installed my cheappie ebay front spoiler from Spoiler by Randy

I couldn't make the spoiler fit exactly as it was supposed to. The ends were supposed to attach to the outer bumper braces, and the center to the bottom of the hood latch support. The unused tabs on the bottom of my bumper seemed to be in the way. Oddly enough the unused tabs turned out to be a good place to mount the spoiler since it's just for looks in my case So, I fabbed up a couple of brackets with some scraps I had laying around, and here it is. It sits about an inch lower and an inch farther foreward than it would have..

Your problems probably arise from the fact you're putting it on a '72 bumper, when he shows it mounted to a '70 bumper in his auction. Looks pretty good though.

    >>Is this the metal front spoiler being sold on ebay? I didn't mount mine yet but if it is the same then I guess that I should go pick up some extra brackets just in case as my car is a 1971.

Yeah.. I was going to PM you. I'll post some pics of what I decided to do.
The two unused tabs on the bottom of the bumper that are exactly 23" apart C to C and stick off the back of the bumper about 2" are in the way. Least ways, I couldn't get it to mount where they said. I drilled a couple of holes in the spoiler 23"s apart and equal lenght from the center and used the tabs on the bottom of the bumper and made a simple bracket for the center which still connects to the hood latch support. The ends might need a little bracing if you plan to go 120MPH..

I just checked out the bottom of my 71 bumper today and I will have the same problem with the tabs that you did with your 72. I'll definitely be using your pics as a template for mounting the spoiler!

By the way, I forgot to mention that Randy contacted me about the spoiler to ask about its fit as he apparently read this post on the board. I sent him an email explaining that mine did not fit right either due to the tabs so I don't know if he will change his description on his spoilers or will try and make a new one for 71-72 Buicks.

He changed his description for 70 only. Apparently customer service is alive and well at Spoilers by Randy. Randy is a "stand up guy" and lives up to the standards you would expect. The spoiler is nice, and looks like good craftsmanship, but just because it fits a 70, does not make if fit newer models. He was not aware of that. I have it installed. It is not functional, but looks good, and I'm happy with it. I still nee to brace the ends, but I have a simple idea in mind.

THe folks at thepartsplaceinc are as*holes. I emailed them about how the spioler mounted and they said " the instructions cover that". Great, that clears it up..
