I just put on one of 65specialconver's starters. Bolted right on, works great, sounds cool. Good deal.

if i remember right, this was a brand new motor.the only thing that can crack a housing is backfire during cranking caused by poor timing/plug wire or cap cross-fire or engaging the starter while the motor is running or not tourqing the bolts corectly(yes there is a tourqe rating for starter bolts).my GUESS is the timing might have been not quite right on the initial start up.remember, these are a hi-perf part and spin 3 times as fast as a conventional unit.

Hi Jamie, I am interested in a mini starter. I have a 70 GS with a 455 and headers. I have noticed that it is will do a slow turn when it is hot. Would the mini starter cure this and does it need a heat shield also?

Do you know if I have to drop the header to change the starter?

Let me know what to do to get this going.

    Thanks, Jeff

Recieved my starter yesterday. It'll be a little while before I build the motor and put it on, but I'll let you all know how it goes. I expect everything will go well.
    Thank You Jaime.

    Jamie,
I sent you an email back. The personal messages part of the board is still around, it's just more nifty now. Click on my screen name, or whoevers, and you'll get a dropdown menu. From there, pm, email, etc are the options.

I know this is old, but are there any left? We're starting to experience heat soak problems with the GS and would like a mini starter for it.

As promised I have my feedback on the mini starter offered here.
I installed the starter without shims on my freshly rebuilt 455 over a month ago and to date it has performed flawlessly. If anyone is rough and abusive on a starter, I'd say it would be me. I personally don't think anything is tougher on a starter than a fresh rebuild and an off road environment. This product is well worth the cash, and even though I doubt I will have to repeat the purchase, I would gladly do so.

Jaime, this is a great product, please continue to support us!

    Jamie,

I bought one for my dad's car a year or so ago. We've had no problems whatsoever. I'd would like to buy a starter for myself. Is your address listed still the current? Curious if you can still get them?

    Thanks,

    Wes

    Jamie,
Just to let you know, the starter arrived safe. I will install it as soon as the Artic weather subsides (about a month I'd say) Thanks.

Jamie, What is the difference between your starter and the one T/A sells for twice the price? Thanks, Bob

Don't really know Bob, but I just installed one of Jamie's starters today, and my engine hasn't started this good in years
