    Default 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T

Was wondering if any of you own one or have heard any feedback on these and are they as mean and fun as they look. Any opinions on these cars? Bill

Ive been eyeing them myself on the dealer lots. If I were to consider one, it would have to be the 425 horse Hemi with a stick. I think that one would be most valuable down the road. One of the special order paints would be a consideration like Tor Red.

With the way the economy is, you would think they wouldnt want a premium over the sticker.

I'm thinking about trying to find a dealer that will trade my frame off restored 70 Chevelle SS 454 coupe straight up for one. I just want a very low option 6 spd. R/T (std cloth int., no navigation).
I've never driven one, but it would have to be a whole lot better than the Chevelle. They are definately nicer to look at.

They look nice. That's for sure. The interior is awesome too. My bro is ultra heavy into Challengers has 4 70's. I told him if I win the lottery I'll buy one and stuff an alum. BBB under the hood and use the nos shaker scoop I won't sell him on it. Makes him want to puke. But I would.

I've ridden in two and had the opportunity to drive one. The one I drove was an R/T 6spd, but I was able to ride in an SRT8. Both of them are BADD ! They look awesome, perform spectacularly, and are very comfortable.

If I was going to get the car to drive, I'd get an R/T 6spd with the 5.7 Hemi. The 5.7L Hemi is SUPER reliable and makes fantastic power. It isn't even that much slower than the SRT8. Plus I don't know that I could justify an extra $15k for a few more ponies and some special wheels. And, if you want the SRT8 to be worth anything, you certainly can't drive it very much.

To sum it up, I love the car, have heard nothing but FANTASTIC things, and would pickup a white R/T 6spd (Vanishing Point - Kowalski).

They do look sweet. I was driving past a dealer the other day and they had an orange one out front with "01" on the doors like the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazard. I almost puked.......

But if they had Daisy/Jessica Simpson washing it then maybe it would have been real cool....

My sister is looking to purchase one, Red with a cloth interior and none of the 4 or 5 dealers in our area can find one for her. If they have the right car she would buy it on the spot...This has been going on for a couple of months and none of the dealers have even bothered to call her back The last dealer she was at none of the sales men even bothered to come outside while she and my brother in-law looked at cars in the lot for 15 minutes..

Must be really hard up for business

I love the look of those cars and I can't wait until my sister gets one so I can drive it and hopefully pick it up cheep when she tires of it in a few years

You have to ask? Its a GS 350 in Bittersweet mist. Nice car. The prior owner owned a body shop and he really did the car nice. He wasnt planning on selling it, but I guess things changed. The used car place has it up for 14,500.

That's what I would buy. If you can still get them? I saw they were sold out a while ago! The new Camaro will wipe it anyways!! Did you guys see the drag Camaro? It will be sweet and fast and ready to race without any work like the Mustang and Challenger.

i am a dodge chrysler jeep salesperson, and i currently have an srt8,orange auto,a silver and a black r/t auto,a black loaded up se,and a silver se, we are selling the r/t and srts at sticker or a little below, not a huge mark up like a lot of stores are trying to do, if any of you have the chance they are a awesome driving car,and i second the choice of an r/t,i dont see the need to spend 10-15 grand more for a little more horsepower, wheels and bigger brakes-espeacially because i know aftermarket stuff will meet or surpass what the factory has for the same or less money! if any of you need any car buying advice or info, feel free to ask me,now or anytime!

Wait for the new Camaro SS. I have read about both and believe the refinement and performance will be better in the Camaro.

Just google it, all the major rags have already done testing and the Camaro is a wicked machine..pretty much hands down wins every contest. Even the base V6 has over 300hp, gets 29mpg highway and runs 0-60 in the high 5's...SS with 426 hp is under 5 easily under controlled track conditions (ie, not you tube)....believe it gets 24mpg highway. Nice numbers overall for bone stock and those LS engines make crazy ass power with simple mods.

The big secret is that IRS, adds weight but gives the car a balance and ride that is apparently excellent. My big letdown is the interior, don't like that dual pod gauge setup but that's just my opinion.

Its really a shame, we are living in the early 70's all over again. If you like any of these cars, get em while you can because from here its all downsized and fuel mileage boring crap.

I can't stand the new Camaro. Saw it and sat in it at the local auto show and wasn't impressed. It definitely fell short of the Challenger, IMHO.

I also sell new and used Mopars for a living. The Challenger R/T is the bargain of the Challenger line up. I ordered one for a customer in December, and got it in January. I was lucky enough to get the order in and built just before the Christmas shut down on Dec 19. It was a base R/T with auto and no options. This still gets you cloth sport seats, pw, pl, tilt, cruise, etc. It stickered at $30545 before any incentives. We are selling them at sticker, and have never jacked pricing with markups, etc. Even our 08 SRT8's were sold at sticker. We sold 8 of them here, and I know of a few that have changed hands since. I have a trade now that may or may not be on the market. It is an early SRT8 in Hemi Orange with sunroof, nav, etc. The car has 15 k miles on it, and is number 55! I believe that the dealer will probably be keeping the car, but that may not be the case. I know of another Orange 08 that sold for $38k with 4500 miles on it. They are out there. You cannot go wrong with a Challenger. I am very concerned that we are reliving 1970-1972 right now, and '73 is right around the corner. Make no mistake, this is a great time to buy a new performance car of whatever brand, but you need to make plans to do so in the near future. Five years down the road, and I will be selling the "rich Corinthian leather" option in my Fiat/Dodge lawn tractor sized, 1.2 liter Hemi 3 cylinder R/T Fiat 500! How do you say "personal luxury car" in Italian anyhow? Thanks, Rudy E!

I believe that verts were looked at for both cars. I saw a few photos of a green Challenger convertible mule being hauled on a flat bed trailer with "scrap" spray painted on its rear. Given the times, I would figure that Dodge is out on the verts, at least for now. I just read that the Z28 is ready to go, but GM is holding it back because it might not be politically correct given the desires of the gov't to seek green cars at all costs, and that is the hard top model. I do know that ragtop versions of either car would sell well, and would do wonders for the financials of the dealers and mfgs. We can only hope. RudyE.
