Default HELP! 4 wheel drive not working, 99' suburban

99' suburban, push button on the fly, a few weeks ago service 4 wheel drive light comes on.
It stays in 2 wheel drive at that point and all the lights stay off on the push button pad and do not respond.

Last week I pull the 4 wheel fuse, put it back in, service light go's out for only a day, and everything works!! The next day back on, and not working.

At work today start truck service light is out everything works great turn truck off at home. Then turn key back on, light is back on and no 4 wheel drive.

Also my anti-lock brake service light has been going off and on for the last few months, would this have anything to do with it.

This sounds electrical with the T-case switches, or the computer!!

Does anybody have a clue or any suggestions, or been through this.

I have had to replace a solenoid that engages the 4wd on GM trucks before. Not sure where it is located though. Not a real expensive repair from what I recall.

    Good luck,

If its the old body style ignore my answer.

Assuming the "new" body style, better than 90% of the time it is the switch. I assume you have autotrac and all. The dash bezel just snaps on. The switch snaps into its mount. Just use a screw driver to gently pry the sides away while "walking" the switch forward out of the cup. Has 4 clip points. All on the sides. 2 top 2 bottom.

*edit* I have 2 1999 z71 Silverados and they both had the dash switch fail the same way you are describing. Had nothing to do with the ABS though

Wayne, I was thinking it might be the switch, did you get yours from the dealer or can I get it after market, maybe NAPA, etc.

    How much was the switch??

    Thanks !!!

I got it from the dealership but I dont remember how much it was. I want to say between 50-75 dollars. I would not guess a NAPA or such to have that part but I certainly could be wrong.

Has the truck had anybody work done? There is a vacuum line that runs along the inner fender under the hood that gets disconnected when replacing the fender. Alot of guys forget to hook that back up during assembly. It's down by the battery, humor me and check it.

Hey Cullen, I just checked it and it was connected. This line was right behind the battery and air intake tube. I even followed it through the firewall and under the dash and still no luck, the check lite is still on and no lites on the push button pad.
Does this run down the inner fender to the t-case???

    Any other suggestions!!
