    Default 350 Wildcat engine ?

Hi , is anyone ever heard about a 350 c.i. "Wildcat" engine ever named that way ?

My info came from a GM documentation for a 71 Skylark with RPO L30 engine

I have never heard of any Buick 350 being refered to as a "wildcat" engine. The 71 engine is rated at 230 hp at 4400 rpms and 350 ft of tq at 2400 rpms so that is likely why someone may refer to it as a 350 wildcat I suppose. The higher compression 4bb 70 SP code 350 that made about 315 hp at 4800 rpms and 410 ft of tq at 3200 rpms.

I am sure you have heard about the "355 Wildcat 300 cid engine" which made roughly 355 ft of tq.

I just received my 1971 salesman's "Buick Facts Book". This is what he was able to reference for a potential customer/car-order.
    Fireball 250-I 6 cyl.
    Wildcat 350-2 V-8
    Wildcat 350-4 V-8
    Wildcat 455-4 V-8
    Wildcat 455-4 Stage 1 V-8
Wildcat 455-4 H.P V-8 This one was optional on Centurion & standard on Riviera.
    1971 Skylark 350-4V
    Sandalwood/buckets/floorshift
    One of none ever made.

Lots of "in-house" Buick information has references like that. Since the information was put together way ahead of actual production, it includes references to engines similar to the old style of calling out engines by torque ratings. Somewhere I've even seen references calling the GS 455 engines as "Wildcat 510".

I'm quite sure that when the 350 came out in 68 it was called a Wildcat 375. Unless that was a 340 in '67. Here's my 350 from '70. I get a lot of flack because Buick never made that kind of engine.

Actually they did. When you ordered the 315hp engine in the Skylark, that's the sticker you got.

Yes, But a lot of people didn't know that. That's why I didn't get a regular 350 Sticker and put it on. Always stirring the pot...
