Default Help 3800 series II no oil presure.

Any help appreciated 1998 3800 series II bottom end and front cover rebuilt due to a bent rod and hydrolock of one cylinder. Assembled by machine shop. I assembled the rest and just finnished install, started last night for a few minutes lots of valve train noise and no oilpressure showing on dash guage? went to bed and tried to sleep.........
Is there a way to prime these oil pumps any thing I can check without re-removing the engine? Signed Sleepless In Copley Ohio

Were the pump gears coated or packed with petroleum jelly? Pick up screen and gasket in place and tight? Regulator spring and valve installed properly? If all that stuff is right you could try and find a tank that you could fill with oil and pressurize and inject it into the oil pressure sensor hole to fill the system and should get the pump primed.

What type of tank can I use? The pickup screen gasket are present and tourqued to spec. I am not sure if they packed the gears with petoleum Jelly or if the regulator spring and valve is installed properly? Is there a priming tool like what we use on our BB buicks? Thanks for any help. Tony

I hate to say this, but if you ran the engine "for a few minutes" with no oil pressure - it's time to take it apart again.

Make sure pressure valve is assembled correctly, and fill oil filter with oil.
