I want one for my 68 but am not sure how that area of the hood matches the 70-71 hoods. I have seen many 68 and 69's in the forum running this style but I wonder if there is much modifying needed to make it look decent. I have an old Cool-Runner intake and could use the clearance.

I have one, it doesn't fit perfectly to a stock Skylark hood in the back but it could be modified to fit.

I'm interested in one..if the price is right.

Wanting one for my Regal, seen a couple Buick Regals with them on there , awesome!!

Not to Hi-Jack the thread but on the same lines as you going with the Kenne Bell repop stuff, heard at one time you may be repopping or had left overs of those awesome 455 Kenne Bell Ribbed cast aluminum valve covers. Interested if so.

Yes, it was the first one I ran off of the KB tooling. It is the one and only hood scoop I have. There is a gap in the very center of the very back of the scoop. I can take a pic and post it so you see what I mean.

Sure, send a picture. There is also a very slight gap in the Buick prototype scoop. It's not at all that bad and no one would notice unless pointed out. So if that is a direct copy of mine I would be fine with it...Keep in mind the two Buick made one's are metal prototype's and if you look close at them from the under side you can tell they are made by hand with an English Wheel and hammer. But whomever did these at Buick did an awesome job as the top side is perfect and we did not use any at all Bondo to get it straight during the restoration.
I could take a picture of mine and with any luck maybe it is exactly the same with imperfections and all. I'll have to compare the back side of my nos KB scoop against my prototype which I've never done,

Ok, I took pictures of both the Buick made prototype and of the nos KB which I laid on a fiberglass hood. The KB actually fits the hood crease better than the metal scoop. And I remember now having somewhat of an issue with that, but it worked out as I used a thin two sided tape as a chip protection between the scoop and hood and also it held the scoop ever so high enough to fit the crease of the hood.
The KB scoop is just sitting on the hood with nothing in-between ands fits pretty well.
I also took front close-ups of the Buick made scoop to show the lip or flange of what I was talking about.

Beware, lot of pictures; I'll post the Buick scoop 1st then the KB.

Ok. I agree that is not acceptable. It looks like the back bottom flange came out of the mold with a curve? Where it should be flat.
I'll wait for the better ones. I can two side tape mine on and when your new ones are done will just change it out.
    Let us know!

PS. You do know the correct placement on the hood is exactly 12" from back side middle of hood to back side of scoop.

Yeah there isnt enough material on that back lip so we had someone take a Skylark hood over to the fiberglass guy so he has a hood to reference. I didn't know the exact location for the scoop, just kinda eyeballed it as I was running out the door today, thanks! Good to know for future use.

It's hard to see in the picture of the Buick made scoop, but the back side bottom has a little curved in section in the middle and the flange is cut out in a "V" to help adjust for the center hood crease. The KB has the same cut out "V".

As soon as my basement remodel project is done, my 68 goes to the body shop for paint, I have a feeling it will be wearing a VFN Fiberglass scoop if nothing is available soon!
