Maybe this is not a breather, but if it is, this will serve as a path straight to outside atmosphere and not let the pump create any vacuum in the crankcase. You might want to consider a regulator at that location so you can adjust the amount of vacuum pulled.
That piece is one beautiful motor!
    Hi Jeff
The tube that the filter is mounted to has a baffle in it which I can close off. I bought an aeromotive adj vacuum reg that I will mount off the vacuum pump with a small gauge on it so I can set the vacuum properly.
If at any stage I wish to not use the vacuum pump I have a breather.

    Hi all,
I am struggling to find some #25 Holley jets that I need for my oil restrictors.
Hopefully a few of the TA455 owners see this and can advise me on what they are running. Jim W has used #25 in the E85 race motor he documented in this forum.
    Anything please.
    Cheers

Possibly these are what you need; you'll have to to verify that 6/32" thread size is appropriate, it's different than the Holley main jet thread: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-142-25?

    Hi Devon,
Yeah I already bought those from Summit thinking they are what I need. But I was wrong. These jets are probably a third the size of normal holley jets unfortunately. The ones I need have the prefix '122' not '142'.

We are going to braise up some jets and drill them at 0.025"
If they don't give me the oil that I need at the top then I can drill them a bit more

    Mike,
This is a bit of a plug for you. All the way from Australia.

    Again

I have an open day coming up for a friend of mine who is a coach builder/metal magician and I will be starting the motor for the first time then, hopefully. No load, just starting it for the first time. Then I will remove it from the car and put it on the dyno. It means I can delay $1000.00 + a day of charging for work.
I will start posting some pics of the car even though not Buick, soon to show the progress and what this motor is going to drive!
    Cheers

Great progress, that all looks awesome! I hope the friday "runs" are problem free....I'll bet Friday can't get here soon enough! I may have some "exciting" updates regarding my Tomahawk Build this Friday too.

It will be ready to run this afternoon (doing nightshift at the moment) but everyone is coming around on Friday to see it. Ive been waiting since 2009, so whats another couple of days
Might be a great day for the Tomahawk Gary?

There will be plenty of video as I have stirred a lot of interest here in Australia. I think most people here in Australia dont get that its the only alloy BBBuick outside the US and probably the most powerful too

Not sure Larry. Might have something to do with the clearances and environment here?

Aluminum block... If the main clearance was .002 at setup, it might be twice that when the engine is hot, due to expansion.

So we do run them tighter initially, and then use a heavy oil.

I recommend that you pre-heat the oil to at least 120*, before you start it the first time.

With that setup, you should be fine.. I might expect the oil pressure to be really high if you start it with room temp 20-50.

Thanks for that Jim. We are currently between 55' and 70'F. I was wondering how I could warm up the oil I have a 500W halogen work lamp that I can sit under the sump for a few hours before we fire it up. That should bring the oil temp up.

Well it runs........holy ****.....this think is angry. It is incredibly responsive with this ignition. I do have a vid but it is crap quality and only shows it idling. I set the rev limit to 6k and it gets there bloody fast.
We ran it for about 10mins first up at probably 2k then started to rev it for another couple of mins and used 25L of e85
Taking it to an event tomorrow and a couple of the guys have gopro cameras, so we should get some nice vids. I do have vids of it revving but the camera distorted under the noise
We are extremely happy with the engine and can't wait to drive it.
