Exclamation Found a cool 70 GTO in an alley

I've been walking by the car for several years now, and have never gotten the nerve to pester the people that it must belong to. I never seem to be able to be walking by when they are outside. Looks like it's not been driven in many years, but is really interesting as it doesn't have the block off's in the hood openings and has a hood tach, rear spoiler, and 69 Judge stripes. I've heard from a few people that with those stripes, if original, could make it an early production 455 H.O.

With open hood scoops it's a RAIII or RAIV car and the flaps are open, not a good thing if it's sitting out in the weather. If it's a real Judge the RAIII was standard and the RAIV was optional. The GTO came standard with a 400-350hp and closed scoops but both Ram Air engines were optional. Unlike the GSX, a hood tach was optional on both the GTO and the Judge, not standard on either. No 455HO cars had stripes, only a 455HO sticker on the front fenders, and the 455 was not an option with the Judge package for `70, only the GTO, but it was the standard engine for a `71 Judge. Confused yet? So next time you're out for a walk, take your nerve with you and go pester those people about it And while you're at it look for a Judge emblem on the glovebox door. Regardless of what it is, chances are they're going to tell you it's not for sale, that they're going to restore it someday, and ten years from now it'll still be sitting there

Back in the late 80's there was a white GSX sunk to the frame in a yard in Miami's little Havana. Drove by it for a year before I knocked on the door trying to buy it. Nothing doing and it sat there for almost two more years and one day it was gone. Should have tried the pretty girl routine. Yep, should have tried it.

It's sitting back by a house, 50 ft. from the alley, so I don't dare just walk up to the car without permission. It would be fun to get the VIN and check with PHS, but I would never do that without the owner's approval.

Wyoming has women, it's just that the sheep are better looking ! Just kidding.
I really don't want to go up to their door by myself, as it's an old, run down area and have no idea what the people are like. You always hear those stories of how upset people get when pestered about selling an old car.

Tim if you're shy about going to the house just send them a letter with your question and your phone number. You never know maybe they will call.

I sent a letter to an address that never had anyone home and got a 66 special for $400.00 so it does work. You'll only be out the cost of a stamp

I also know of a really good 69 LeMans coupe that's been sitting for as many years as I can remember. Looks like a nice, straight rust free body. Would make a great GTO or Judge clone.

You'll have to head up this direction sometime and take a look at our projects; 72 Stage 1 conv., 72 455 conv., 72 Stage 1 coupe, and lots of other cars also.

There are some other cool cars around here, although some of the people won't let you in to take a look.
I just recently saw a picture of a car I had heard rumors of for years. It's over in Moorcroft in an old gas station or something; a 70 B5 blue 440 Superbird. I guess the guy started pulling it apart in the early 70's to do a transmission conversion, and never finished it. I guess awhile back some kid was allowed to go in the building to look for something, and he took a picture of it. But I guess pretty much nobody gets in there to look.
Then also supposedly in Moorcroft is a 428 SCJ Mach 1 that's been sitting inside a building or garage for lot's of years. I have never seen a picture or anything.
So there are lot's of cars still out there, just finding them is the thing. Several years ago, a guy we know had a Hemi Charger 500 rolling shell. I didn't find out about it until a year or two after he had sold it. It wasn't any secret, but I guess he never even thought about mentioning the car to us.

Here's the deal on 1970 GTOs:

    - 455 HO a regular option
    - Ram Air was an option on the 455
    - The stripe was a legit option that's not tied to the engine
    - Judges had black scoop boots, GTOs with Ram Air did not

I remember that car sitting there for years and years. I guess I never thought anything of inquiring about it.
Anybody interested in that 70 GTO is free to stop by and I'll take them right to it. I need another car for myself like another hole in my head, and I can't afford anything more than the picture I took of it anyway .
Maybe somebody will luck out and be able to pick it up for next to nothing and find out it's a RAIV or something.

I looked back at the picture I took of the GTO, and it has the black grilles with the argent surrounds, so it could very well be a Judge.
