    Default 0321110 Tomahawk build

My Tomahawk block got here today and I got it on a engine stand to look it over for a day or two before I have to give it to my engine builder to put my internals in.

    Looks good Michael!!
Sorry I didn't start on the pan yet. It's crunch time for finishing the house so we can move in. The house is already a month behind schedule and I don't see us moving in until after Christmas. I'll do my best to get at it as soon as possible. Mike is going to be sending me my block also (soon) and that will aid me in building your oil pickup.

    Thanks,

Yes. Stock stroke (3.900) that has been turned 0.010/0.010 to make sure it was smooth and round.

Looked through six cores to come up with a good one.

Since I only have the cam bearing now (cam being made), I compaired the new Ford bearing to a factory Buick bearing. You can put a buick bearing inside the Ford bearing easy.

    cam bearing compair.jpg

I pulled out the factory oil pan gasket I have and the gasket it self can not be used. It will be better to just make a new gasket than to cut up the factory one.

You can use the rubber over-main-cap part.

The new cam came in and it has to weight twice what the factory cam does.

I went by my engine builder to see what progress was made and got there as he was putting the last two pistons in.

After he put the last piston in, I installed the head studs and he started to degree the cam.

Late March is when I would like to try to start it.

Then a few weeks to get the bugs out.

They are solid roller. Here is a link to TA lifters (and picture) until I can get actual picture (s) of mine.

    Hi Michael,
The roller lifters for the TA block are slightly different to the ones you have linked to. The top piece above the oil groove is longer to allow for the extra material in the valley and so the anti rotation brackets don't hit the boss in the valley.
Here is a pic of mine before I dropped them in.

    Part number TA 1413-1
