Yep. But a recall of every one nonetheless, correct? (or is that not true because its a hellcat and they are in fact gods gift to american (ahem Italian) cars?) I mean, don't get me wrong, Im glad you were able to dumb down the article for me so my feeble mind could understand if it was a major issue or not since I'm not at full mast over the car, I must not have the automotive knowledge to understand what the recall was, and for that, I thank you.

I just don't get why everyone is putting this car on such a pedestal and defending it so much. Its a challenger with a big supercharged engine making unusable amounts of power. Cool. I like power as much as the next guy and wouldn't mind taking one around the block once or twice. But why is it so untouchable? Your the second person today that brought up the car and I casually mentioned I saw a report where dodge recalled them. Just brought it up as it pertained to the car. Not bashing it, just saying it was recalled as a matter of fact. Suddenly it was defensive "oh, its no big deal!!!" No kidding. Don't care. Recalled is recalled and that's all I was saying. Not like I insulted anyone's mother. Gimme a break. It's getting as bad as the Chevy/ford/dodge truck debate. "Thou shalt not utter a disparaging word toward thine holiest of the automobile, thy hellcat!" Sheesh.....

The Hellcat may be the most powerful and fastest mass produced muscle car of all time. I am not counting sports cars like Vipers and Vettes. That makes it special. Most of us love muscle cars. I tip my hat to Chrysler for making it. Fiat Chrysler is a Dutch Company based in Great Britain. They have done a good job of bringing an important American brand back from the brink of extinction.

    Jim,

Its been brought to my attention my post came across very abrasive and as a personal attack on you. That was not my intention and I apologize.

That said, I do very much agree with the above post.

Here is a stock Hellcat, stock tire series of passes from Fla yesterday. With the temperature at 87 degrees, it did a best of 11.4 seconds/124.5 mph in the quarter starting in second gear. The weight is around 4500 pounds.

I thought you guys might enjoy how reading about much technology goes into the proper design of a supercharged engine like the Hellcat's:

I have to admit they are very impressive for a heavy car, Dodge finally did something right Big inch engine with a blower and an automatic. I would have to believe that the average Hellcat runs 11:30 to 11:50 @ a 125 mph in decent air. You can do the same thing to a New Mustang. i purchased a 2012 Mustang Gt with and automatic and 3:15 gears. I put a 2.3 Roush TVS blower on it and the car ran 10:80's @ 130 MPH all stock except for the addition of the blower.

A friend of mine did about the same. He purchased everything, including some cosmetic items, that would be standard on a Roush Stang. Runs high 10s as well. Cruises all the way home from the track with A/C and tunes on. Modern technology.

But he also just voided his factory warranty unless he is friendly with the local dealer.

Not sure how things work over in Dearborn, but if someone bought a new Camaro they can order any part from the GM performance catalog and not void the warranty, just as long as the dealer installs it. I would assume that Ford has a similar program.

I did hear the hellcats are bursting into flames at an alarming rate..

I have a customer who builds high end muscle cars. His next build is a 68/69 charger that will have the hellcat powertrain. Chrsyler told him he couldn't even order the motor until the end of may, and that it would likely be 6 months before he took delivery.

Friend of mine who is a car enthusiast and owns about a dozen plus cars from the 50's on up (including a 72 Stage 1) just bought one, and I asked him to compare it to his other "fast" modern cars. (He also has a Porsche Panamera Turbo)

    It’s f’n bananas!!!

Fast – understatement. Scary fast with an ax murderer attitude. What I mean is that when you gas it with bad intentions, it’s fast enough to make you back down before it does. So, how does it compare to my E55 AMG, my Ferrari (2004 Challenge Stradale), and my Stage 3 Porsche (84 wide body modified by Protomotive)?

E55 – One of the fastest, coolest cars that is crazy inexpensive these days. Very torquey and supercharged with grunt that amazes and embarrasses many sports and supercars. Hellcat is similar in its purpose – a road car that can be enjoyed – heavy, nice rumble, comfortable with lots of power and break neck speed to spare. However, E55 is not in the same world as the hellcat when it comes to brute force acceleration. Think “Beast mode” vs a typical running back.

Ferrari – Track car with emotion to match. High revving hot blooded Italian with a sound to match. A true track car that is street legal that would prance around the track around the mighty Hellcat. Once on the street or on the freeway, the Hellcat would embarrass it so badly - think Mike Tyson vs. Floyd Mayweather.

My Porsche – for reminders it too was about 700 HP. To really different cars. Only thing in common is the underrated horsepower ratings. The Porsche would anniliate the HC on the track. Would probably be able to hang with it on the street. However, hellcat is far more comfortable and well-mannered. Think energy drinks – Guzzling redbulls vs sipping expresso. Ultimately the same effect, ones just appears to me more cultured than the other.

There you have it. The HC is the ultimate street beast!

YES YES YES!!! One of the fastest armored vehciles till they came up with the M-1 Abrams!

I drove a Dodge Truck for 10 years, and have always had a thing for some of MOPAR's stuff but I think they need to trim down the proportions of the Challenger a bit, just looks too stocky, I actually prefer the latest incarnation of the Charger myself even if it has 4-doors.
