    Default Temparture Blend Door Stuck?

As I was putting my '72 Skylark back together the The Temperature Cable broke. I had never used it before now. When I go to replace it I notice that the Blend door is not opening. I pulled the glove box and cant get it to move by hand. This is an original A/C car that has since been deleted from under the hood. I look through the service manual and as far As I can tell that door should just opening and shut freely with no restriction correct? Any suggestions before I go pulling out everything?

I just pulled the heater core box, 2 weeks ago, on my sons 72 skylark. It was full of mouse nest that they built from rear seat batting material. They also chewed some of the squirrel cage fan fins off. The box was so nasty, I had to sand blast the whole thing inside and out. My guess is that there is a foreign object blocking the door, or it is rusted in place. You can try putting a little lube on the upper part of the door hinge shaft to see if it will free up, but I really doubt it. I wish they would have designed a cover plate on the cabin side that would have been removable. Note: the blend door by design should swing freely. As designed, there is nothing inside the box to interfere with the door. The door has a thin foam coating to act as a seal, but that is it.

Thanks Marty. I think I'm going to pull it all out and make sure its clean and functioning properly. Sets me back a couple of days, but no better time than now, when the dash is already out.
