Default How does defrost duct seal to heater box?

Got a 1970 Skylark and am wondering how the defrost ducts seal to the heater box. Peeked inside dash while radio was out being serviced and saw it wasnt attached. I found a screw and reattached it to the heater box. But using the factory hole I got a gap all around where the 2 meet on top of that both are hard surfaces and there is not indication of a slip fit. Is there supposed to be a seal/gasket between these 2? If so where can I get or how can I reproduce the type of seal that should be there?

On my '68 Skylark, there was nothing. I'd expect that to be true in later years. It's not like that has to be a positive pressure seal; it's just hot air going to the windshield. Whatever leaks out goes to the passenger compartment, which is a good thing.

No seal and its supposed to be like that. That way if you drop something in the duct , you can retrieve it through the gap. The top of the heater box has a grill so whatever falls through the defroster duct stops there

Thanks for the reply guys, It's actually a relief to know I have all the parts for once and don't have to track down or fabricate anything .
