    Default 1969 BUICK GS interior resto question

    I currently have the interior gutted besides the dash. It is a convertible with factory center shifter/console. Question: While it is all apart are there any cool or sensible things I should add before the carpet and panels go in? Already have stereo wiring and seat heaters...anything else? Thank you.

    Cool Re: 1969 BUICK GS interior resto question

    One day I might add a rear power antenna to my vert. Had one on my 69 hardtop from factory. Was very cool IMO. Is yours a Fremont built car and what was the factory color ?

    Oddly enough I have had the car since 2001 and never looked up the vin for anything beyond making sure the year and GS model were legit. The car is white as is the other parts of the car and even the doors behind the panels, so my guess is white. I am also sorry to say that I am not sure what a Fremont build car is. Please enlighten me.

    I am coating the floor panels etc and just mostly adding power feeds. I don't want to make it "modern" but I may add a usb charge point in the console...but I am unwilling to cut anything original. Anyway, power antenna would be cool,but my car has it in front.

    Thanks,
    Z

    Fremont would be from the GM plant in California. "Z" should be the code for Fremont.

    At least for 69 GS400 coupes, I was told that Fremont cars had an "F" on the cowl tag, in the 2-letter code right after the initial numbers that tell the year and model. If I am reading it right, my car's VIN starts out:

    ST 69-44637 BF 00849

    Am I reading it wrong?

    BF = Z = Fremont

    BF is used on the cowl tag while Z is used on the VIN tag.

    Aha.
    Thank you for clearing that up. Mucho obliged.
