    Post 72 Suncoupe Sloan Doc.

    I just got back some info. on my 72 Suncoupe.

    Wow a lot of things have been change since new.
    I mainly wanted to confirm that yes, it is a real Suncoupe.
    interesting things I found out.
    1. The car was a dealer demo car
    2. it's a zone 13-109
    3. Dave Cross Motors in Lees Summit,MO
    4. fire red w/ white bench seat-interior
    5. red carpet
    6. white vinyl roof

    as you can see it's not the same car I bought, but I like the new look of it now.
    I wonder if item # 1, #5 is rare?
    I have some pics in my Vehicles garage tab.

    I will need to double check my trim tag as it may not be the same?
    If in fact is not the same, has anyone ordered I new trim tag for their car?

    In the end I would say the investment to find out was worth it.

    Would like to hear from the Suncoupe Guys.

    Why would you want a new trim tag? Is yours damaged?

    ST72 = 1972 model
    4 = buick
    4437 = Skylark custom sport coupe
    FL1 = Flint Plant
    171214BDY = Fisher body number
    TR138 = Fisher trim code for back vinyl notchback, the GM code for black vinyl notchback is 248 or 348
    PNT 65 = Flame orange paint
    B= Black vinyl top
    05A is the build date of the first week of May, 1972

    This info is way different than what your sloan info says your car originally was. Is the vin correct on the Sloan info? Does the body number match the Sloan info (171214)?

    Sloan is correct, I have some paperwork dates back to 1996 which shows the same vin #, title says red color. That's why I always wonder about the color and if it even was a real Suncoupe. So someone when doing the paint and interior decided to change trim tag info. I guess they would have had a donor car. I'm glad it's a real Suncoupe. The tell tell sign would be the body number. All the changes were done in good taste but why mess with the trim tag. Can I get one redone? would this hurt the value ??

    Does the body number on the Sloan docs match the trim tag? Does the model number 4437 match the Sloan documents. The Suncoupe option was "usually" on the Skylark 350 model 3337. As we know the Suncoupe option was also added to other models like the GS even though it was not listed as an available option.

    What is the invoice date on the sloan documents? The build date on the cowl tag is the first week of May, 1972. The invoice date should be close (before) the 1st week of May.

    If the body number matches the trim tag and the sloan documents I will be very confused.

    My guess is that the body was swapped and the vin from the original suncoupe was added but the cowl tag from the donor car was left on.. This is just a guess based on the info provided.

    At one time there was (may still be) a company that would reproduce or custom make GM trim tags. You had to prove you owned the car but were welcome to change the codes if you wished.

    Mike is correct. A Sun coupe was on the Skylark 350 model which would be 3337. A Skylark sport coupe would be 4437

    So the model # on the VIN doesn't match the model # on the trim tag?

    Suncoupes were available on all except the sedan. Could be a typo at red car would be 75 and not 65. The trim tag doesnt have a VIN on it so its legal to change them

    True, but the actual Suncoupe option was only listed on the Skylark 350 dealer order form in 1972.

    Its not only the car color that's wrong on the trim tag, the interior code is also wrong along with the top color. While it may be legal to change the trim tag, why bother? (I know, why not, lets not go off in that direction )

    The Sloan Doc. shows 3337 4D37 Skylark Sports Coupe 350. I notice that the inside of the doors were red and the rear section behind the rear bumper is also red and inside of the rear Quarters also red. So the body would be correct? maybe the cowl section was replaced.
