I think you should go all pink accessories. Plug wires, distributor cap, everything.

Here is a little bump for Jamie @ Newport and Jim @ Tri-Shield. Pic of 105 amp alternator with Tri Shield's polishing process. Notice same polish on valve covers and intake. If you want something different than everyone else, try it.
    Nice!

Hello I have a 72 buick electra with a 72 455. I would like a high amp output alternator, because I'm going major custom on the audio video stuff. I was wondering is there a such thing as something like a 200amp alternator to be made for my car, or would it be possible for me to run like two alternators to cover what I need. I don't want to really go overboard by I want it to be suffiecient enough where I'm not stalling out at red lights. I would also like it chromed possiblly please quote me a price for both. Jamie, just wanted to let you know the new 105amp alternator ROCKS!!! (just like the starter I got from you about 3 years ago). Ran a new 8ga wire with soldered terminals and I've got an honest 14.4V at the battery now.

For those of you looking to upgrade your alternator I recommend just buying the conversion plugs from Jamie. I had an older regulator bypass plug I got about 10 years ago when I converted to the 63A internal regulator style alternator. It worked and charged fine for 10 years, problem is it shorts the F-4 and 2-3 terminals together when what you need is F-3 and 2-4 terminals shorted. It started and ran and even charged but I'm pretty sure it would have killed the battery if it sat idle as there was a constant 1 amp. draw (the alternator made a light humming sound was the giveaway).

    regards

Is that red one that you did for yourself painted or powder coated? I have been thinking of a bunch of powder coat for the detail stuff under the hood when I pick up an engine. I have been thinking that powder coating an alternator housing then shipping it up to be built would be the way to go and I talked about powder coating aluminum to a powder coating guy last weekend while picking up parts and was told no problem.
Could be a pretty economical dress up since a new high quality alternator would be in the works anyway.

Mine is painted.Powdercoating has to be done right. You have to tape off the bearing surfaces/diode holes, inside lip of both housings.Otherwise you have a good chance of breaking the housings when pressing in diodes/stator/bearings.

    Hi Jamie,

I dropped you a PM yesterday or day before, but your mailbox may be full. Anyway, I've got a question about the alternator you built me (about the third or fourth post in this thread, I think I got the second one you sold on here).

Several years ago you built me a 105 amp one wire alternator, and I'm finally getting around to doing the electrics for my '68 Riv. I've got a lot of additional wiring run for the electric fans, electric water pump, associated relays, battery/cutoff switch in the trunk, and the vacuum pump, so I thought I'd better check for any shorts to ground. I kept getting 11,240 ohms between positive and ground (back in the trunk at the battery cable terminals), and by the process of elimination I finally tracked it down to the alternator. From the battery terminal on the alternator to the alternator case I get 11,240 ohms, so apparently that's the source of what I was reading from positive to ground. My question is, is that normal, or is there a problem with the alternator? At 12 volts and 11,240 ohms, I think it'd take a long time to run a battery down, and I dont think the alternator would even get warm, but I just don't know. Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you could help me sort it out. Thanks much!

When will you be back at alternators? I am looking for a CS130 for my race car, low start rpm charge with some pretty good output.

I puschased one off you a year ago or so, and dont remember what amp it was. Is their an easy way of telling?
Think it was a 4 wire one..thinking it was 130 amp but like i said dont remember
Also when you do start this back up, what amp would you recommend for about 11 or so electric gauges, electric fuel pump, tbi injection and an msd 6al-2 digital box, and radia with sub/amp? 200 should definatly take care of this correct, or would I only need a 160?

    thanks again

No way to tell unless you still have your invoice.A bench test will give you the amperage. On your other question,200amp is not something i do in the small case,we have to step up to a CS-144 which is larger diameter.
