    Default World's fastest nailhead.

I know a lot of people claim this title and it will be hard to get them all together for some heads up racing (if not impossible) but here is my claim. Submitted for your entertainment.

Looks nice! What are some of the details?

haven't run it yet but we plan on being in the sub 7second range without to much trouble. Most of the internals are custom forged pieces as you can imagine. The valvetrain is primarily chevy LS6. I want to keep the details under my hat till we get a chance to make some passes. It is blown alcohol and now displaces 494 inches.

Nailheadracer, how did you arrive at the 494 displacement? Can you share that info with us at this time ?

some of it was in the .060 bore on the original 425 block but most of it was stroking the crank. This is a hard block of course. There has been a lot of work into piston compression heights and rod lengths as well. It was necessary to remove som of the bottom of the cylinder walls to swing the crank.

Not the fastest nailhead probably but likely the quickest.

First we have to see some 1/4 miles times from that bad boy before ya lay claim to the title. Should be impressive. Keep us updated.

As posted earlier Bob Quigg has a full bodied street legal '66 GS powered by a nailhead no juice and runs 11.0's at around 122 mph. No where near what a dragster may do, but as far as a door slammer I would say that is the fastest and quickest.

And that's with a 401/+.030" for a total of 406.8" on carbs. with a distributor & gasoline. Idles at 850RPM's with 17" of vacuum. Drive to cruise nights. Time slips & many witnesses to lay claim.
Ken a quicky in CID. A 425 has a bore of 4.3125", add a .060" overbore = 4.3725". Now 4.3725"x4.3725"x 4.14" (in this case stock stroke is 3.64", add 1/2" to the stroke it now equals 4.14") x.7854 x 8 = 497.32564". Till time slips are available, entertanment is all it is & will be for the time being. Nice eye candy though.
Hopefully this season 10's!!!!!! Take this 401 & put it in a 1200 pound vehicle & we now can lay claim to 8's!!!! But that's just a claim & not the REAL THING!!!!! So with 500 cubes, give or take, blown & on aclcohol, 7's should be a walk in the park.
    Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I will have to say the quickest. I bought some parts from a guy in Canada that ran a 401 at Bonneville in a '29 roadster. I think he said he as running in the mid 250mph range.

Hey Tom, I didn't quite get the 497 due to a slight modificaton in the compression height of the piston. But you,re math is dead on. Want to test some rockers?

Default Sub 7 second nailhead dragster

Nailheadracer, you should have no problem running low 7s with your nailhead dragster. I attended the 2005 Hot Rod Reunion at Bowling Green, Ky. in June and a blown Ford V8 flathead dragster turned 172.48 with an et of 7.67. Man the crowd about went wild. Hope to see your nailhead dragster compete at a future Reunion. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thinking about this. Anyone ever hear if he got into the 7s? OR was it a pile of nice looking parts for a photo op to proclaim this is the fastest nailhead bench racing? Gotta say it sure was a nice looking dragster. I know its a old thread but had a little stroking info that might help mr62
