The Bench Pull up some pine, and let's talk it out. Anything goes here, as long as it "jives" with the tone of this board, which is family oriented, and is Buick related.

Default Bought a 69 skylark for my wife..+

Hi
I bought a 69 Skylark conv project for my wife.
And I have a question.
It has console and seperate seats in the front, but have not a floor shift.
Was some cars delivered like this?
I havent got the car home yet.
I only have some small pictures of it.

>>To answer your question, some Buicks had the short non-shift console (sometimes called a shorty console) with bucket seats and a shifter on the column. This console was basically a storage compartment. Yours by the way is not from a '69 but from a late '70 to '72 as it has the button. The late '60s shorty consoles had a Buick emblem on them.

Hi
Thanks for the answer.
I suppose this car was original with a bench.
I will fly down to Bergen
and pick it up on Saturday and take it home with the coastal ship, 54 hour tour on the ship to get the car back home.
I am looking forward to get it home.

Maybe but I think you could have bought one from Buick just like you see it. Our 4 speed GSX has a center storage console. You could also get ithe storage console in combination with a 3 speed on the column or 3 speed on the floor with buckets.

Hi
I will do some more research about the car, when I get it back home.
If the bucket seats have been mounted in the car later on, I suppose it shows.
It,s a orginal AC car, I dont know if this was an unusal option in convertibles?

>>It might have but it looks like they did a good job. I'm actually in the process of switching my split bench seat to buckets with a shorty console - although I'm using a '68 shorty console with the emblem in my '71 as I like the look better. Your Buick looks quite nice and I'm sure you will enjoy it alot with the top down!

Not that unusual for a convertible to have AC. My car has air, and in the 29 years I've owned it, maybe about 40% of the '69 'Lark convertibles I've seen have AC.

That's a nice looking car you have there!

Very nice looking car - I am a fan of the two-tone paint of the 69's. It was offered that way from the factory but I think very few received that treatment.

As to your question - look at your instrument cluster. If it has the shift quadrant (P-R-N-D-L...) then it was a column-shift car. If none of that appears and it says "Fasten seat belts" then it was a floor shift car. Of course, the instrument cluster could have been changed ....

Not to nit-pick but I thought I would point out that it looks like both the seats and door panels have been reupholstered with non-stock materials.

Rechromed bumpers are anywhere from ~$400 up to ~$700 for show chrome

Hi
And thanks for the info.
I found a better picture on the web of this car.
It doesn't look to bad.
But I am really looking forward to see it in person.

Hi
It has the shift quadrant and also the "Fasten seat belts" sign.
This car was reupholstered in California in 98 or 99.
