Dwayne, The C501 springs are also known as "cargo coils", and the ones I bought were made by TRW. I think MOOG makes them and I believe they are the same number? I purchased mine for around $60 for the pair from Murrays here in Michigan. I would think you could get them from Autozone, Pep Boys and other parts suppliers. They may not suite everyone, but I like the ride height that I get when using them. The stock springs always seem too low to me.
Don, You should bring your car out to the VFW on Newburg by Ann Arbor rd. on Thurs. evenings. Could use another Buick brother there! P.S try to get there by about 5:30 - parking goes fast.
Hi Carl, Yes, I would say it is a stiffer ride. I put the air bags in at the same time, and even though there is no air in them, I still think they also affect the ride. It definately feels pretty stiff with the trunk empty and just me driving. If there were people in the back seat, I'm sure the ride "feel" would be softer? I have used stock springs before with the spacers (aluminum) and it gives a good ride height, but they will "sag" over time.
Carl, I know where you are talking about, I'll try to come by one night. Does Scott Palmer ever show up there?
Thanks, Don. Pretty sure mine were MOOG springs, but think they were just stock replacements. I think my car sits too low in the rear. Rides good, but just seems too low.
Can, you either straighten or make the correct offset for a 70 wg wheel. Have 2-3 that in need of repair.
Dave, You would probably get a quicker answer from Curt if you contact him by phone. He may not monitor this site that often. I'm not sure if he does repairs or not? Here is his contact info: McWheels (Curt McKim) Slater, IA 50244 Phone: 515-685-3397 Email: bad86gt@huxcomm.net
Im thinking of ordering wheels from McWheels (almost like McQueen, the moviestar:Brow: ) I have not contact him yet, just want to know your current status guys, most of you seems satisfied. Have you got yours Joe??
Marc, I think Joe finally got his wheels from Curt. He had some issues with getting them in a "timely" fashion, and the boxes were in pretty rough shape when they arrived. Perhaps he can let you know the details. I am satisfied with the wheels I got from Curt, but I'm not sure what his situation is now. He may be having a hard time getting the cores to work with, or he may just be too busy.
I will wait some more before making any move, I already ordered the caps from Mitch Romanowski.I really want to know whats up with Joe.....Curt seems like hes got tons of work, that must be the delay...anyway......
Yeah I got my rims. Don pretty much told the story. the rims look really nice. thats all I have to say...
I just ordered a set of TRW CC507 springs for the rear of my '70, it appeared to me that they come in CC501, CC503, CC505 and CC507 varieties...anybody know the differences? I picked the station wagon springs because I want my car to sit a little above level in the rear, not too high, but a little higher than the front. Anybody got specifics on the differences in these springs?
OK I promised Curt I would post a pic of his 15x8 on the rear of my 69 Skylark and 15x7 on the front with 245/60/15 and 275/60/15 drag radials.:TU: Don Love the look on your car as well!! Thanks Curt for the wheels.:TU:
Hey Bill They are 4.5 back space and with a little trimming on the inner well It is the biggest tire to fit in there. I am very happy with Curts wheels:TU: Thanks Don:TU:
Nick that tall 275/60 is a great look, I really like that stance. A 275/50-15 will fit with a backspace of 5.125 to 5.250 on the '68-69 Skylark
