I need some help here. I need a new carb. There are lots of good builders out there. I want to stay with a Midwest builder. I have narrowed the field down to AED or Bigs. They are both around $600. Any and all opinions welcomed.
I have used my AED 1000 HO at the track and on the street. It has performed flawlessly. No sag or roughness anywhere. Didn't have to touch or adjust anything, except the idle speed. It even got 13.7 MPG on the open road. I ran my best pass with this carb (12.119@111.98 MPH) I lent the carb to Jason Cook (Buick64203) for the dyno session on his new motor. The AED carb picked up over 20 HP from his 850 Holley DP. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=135254
Jesse, As a matter of fact is does help. I think there are many people that will build a carb for you but not as many want to be available for customer service. The fact that your are a member of this board and the fast response I got from your email has impressed me. I know that Larry has had good results with his AED, I also know that Phil Sedlon uses a Bigs 950 on his convertable and runs 11's. His setup is pretty close to mine. The real decision now is can I afford the CNC 950? Will give you a call this Friday and figure out what I need.
