I'm starting a new thread to see if there is any interest here in getting 64/65 1/4 patch panels made up. I read in the "Alfaparts" thread that there is a manufacturer of hand made sheet metal repair panels who is willing to help us out. Heres the original thread for those that missed it. I then emailed Allen myself and questioned him about the 64\65 1/4 patch panels and here is his response. Hi Dave, I would be happy to make these for you guys. If there is a trim that attaches to the wheel opening, this would be helpful to get this part just right. Allen Hall How about it 64/65 owners? Now might be our chance to finally get something many of us need. None of the major aftermarket manufacturers are interested in tooling up for such small quantities and some of the quality isn't that great either. I don't have enough left on my car for a decent pattern so can anybody help out here?
Hi, I might need a lower patch panel for a 64 right and left rear quarter o No: I'm a long way from scratching off the body fill to see what's underneath. I'm just starting to put the frame back together. Thanks Bruce
Here is my reply from them Calvin, we can make the quarters from the lower horizontal line down. We would make those in probably 2 pieces. $250. per side. The catch is we NEED Patterns! Someone has to send me a raggedy quarter as a template. Thank you, Subject: 1965 Buick Skylark quarters Allen can you help me with this I need quarters for my 65 GS, here are some pics of my car and some pics of other 65 GS, im stuck cause I cant move forward on this Calvin For that price some one needs to send them a rust 1/4 panel, mines are to twisted and banged up to be of any help.
Dave I defeinitely would get at least one for each side if available. Do they need the actual fender off the car or do they just need to take measurements and photos of fenders that are on existing cars? My rear qurters are in good shape, but I am not in a position to take them off my car. If they just need demensions and photos, maybe someone could take their 65 by there for them to look at. Where are they located?
Good questions. I don't see why they would just need the part if they could take measurements right from the vehicle. I'll email Allen and see what he says. Thier website shows they have 2 locations so I'm not sure where they would need the car. Hi there! Does anyone knows if the 1/4 panels of Skylark 65 were made by alfaparts company? I have read this post about alfaparts TODAY so Im not sure about any further details. Any other options for panels replacement of Skylark 65?? Thanks!
Skylark Joe hasn't answered yet because he drooled all over his keyboard and shorted it out!:TU:  PONCH:spank:
YES YES YES i'll take both sides for my wagon...i'll cut them off and send them to him if need be...my drivers side wheel opening is BAD Lets get these made guys...it will help save more buicks:beer
How did you know!!!!!!!! Yes yes yes yes make them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't have to sell my 65 vert!!!!!!
I would like to be involved with the making of these panels. The reason is that the last time someone made 1/4s (67) they were crap. I spent as much time fixing them before they could be used as I did installing them.
All, The response from them is leading me to belive they are interested in makeing the "flatter" parts of the quarters and not the much needed wheel arches. In all honesty, anyone with a metal brake and a little patience can make these parts and save themselves some money. I think the sections most needed are the wheel arches which are nearly impossible for the average person to make and get exactly right.
Yes i agree, i need the wheel openings as well. If this is what the guy is willing to make then Ii'm willing to cut out any of the these pieces needed as a donor for the fabricating, however mine are a bit rough. I can take some pics next week so maybe someone can determine whether they can be used to fab from. Gary,
I'm curious, do you guys need the wheel opening sheetmetal? In California most of our rust is at the bottom of the quarter panel in the trunk, which is caused by the rear window leaking. The "flare" around the rear wheel opening is generally ok. I sometimes see donor cars in wrecking yards that the lower part of the quarter is shot, but the rest of the wheel opening is fine. These cars could be two door, or four door. If that is the part you need, what are they worth? Will four door parts work for two door replacement? I would be willing to have them cut out of the cars, if I can recover enought $$$ to make it worth my time to package them. Kurt
Worth is determined by the condition. If you see some to get take pictures and send them this way....
If you can find good quarter wheel arch sections, you should be able to sell them all day long. They will be the same for a two door or four door just remember that on the four door you have less of the dog leg section to work with. If you can find me 3 sets, I'd personally like to talk to you about buying all three sets from you! :dollar:
